Hola Patojos (little kids in guatemalan)!!! Pato and I have made our way to Belize. Rio Dulce turned out to be kind of a laid back place and we quickly got on our way to Livingston, which is highly dominated by black people who were brought over as slaves and then have dominated the area. It is a really cute town and the boat trip that takes you there from Rio Dulce is even better. It was full of lush green forest/ jungle with small towns of people. AMAZING!! In Livingston we stayed in Pato's friend's (Chuby) house... which was "romantic." [View Full Entry]

Placencia is a relaxed beach town in south eastern Belize that is situated at the end of a long peninsula. After 20 miles of bumpy dirt road we arrived in town looking for a place to stay. An interesting aspect of the town is that its main road is actually a footpath near the beach, where all the hotels are located. We parked the car at the harbor and walked to Lucia's Travel Inn, which offers rooms for $10 per person. With a room secured, we took a siesta then headed to the beach. White sand, palm trees and 80 degree [View Full Entry]

Disembarking Yesterday, we did our cleaning and packing as we sailed back to Placencia from Lagoon Cay. We were greeted at the dock by a couple of brothers who were selling the souvenirs they 'made.' They were smart guys to be there, as it was simpler to buy from them as run around to any stores. After about an hour in the sweltering humidity, all the dive gear was returned, our stuff was off the boat, and we were waiting to be picked up by a driver from the resort where we were staying. The guys and I went over to [View Full Entry]

Our bus took us to the capital of Belize, Belmopan, as we weren't planning on staying here we quickly found out the bus times for the coast and went for some lunch. For those that don't know, Belize used to be part of Guatemala but was then taken by the English a couple of hundred years ago. The majority of the population are Spanish speaking native americans but they also have a high percentage of Garifunas, who are basically english speaking people of African decent that weren't brought as slaves but came of they're own free will. So anyway, we jumped [View Full Entry]

I woke up to snow this morning, and I laughed. I laughed because it was 4am, and I was getting ready to go to the airport to fly to Belize. The friends I'm traveling with picked me up at 4:45am. I had to navigate past a drunk homeless guy in a wheelchair who was taking shelter in the front entry of my apartment, and through the snow (in my sandals, because I was determined not to take socks and shoes to Belize). We made it to the airport in plenty of time after picking up two more friends, but the security [View Full Entry]

Yep its me...Nick is still battling with a tummy bug. It appears the carribean food and beer remedy we were trying wasnt working, therefore it is nil by mouth, except for water, fruit and rehyrdation sachets. The centre of the village, where the shops and internet are etc is a good mile round trip and not wise for Nick to do in the current heat. Fortunately/or unfortunately for me, my stomach appears to be "embracing" the carribean culture...therefore the walk will do me good!! Today is the hottest day we have had so far and it is hot hot hot. Placencia [View Full Entry]

Hello, Tracey has been booted off for a lacklustre performance last time, so stuck with me for now..... Finally escaped Mexico, with most of my intestines in tact, huzAAR, though its still lingering around. but where i am now, i couldnt care, glorious sun, beaches and the Carribean sea, nice and toastie! So, Mexico. MXC was pretty good, apart from the guys playing there Harmonipan, some kind of wind up noise machine that just, well, made an excuse for music that hurt the head a lot! And the shere number of police, wow. The Daily Mail readers would rejoice, bobbies on [View Full Entry]

February 21, 2008 Relaxation was the word of the day as Chrissy and I did not have any plans. It was nice. We filled the day by mailing some stuff back home that we did not need and got rid of 10 pounds off our packs. We booked a tour for the next that takes us into a cave that has Mayan ruins and it is all by canoe. February 22, 2008 We were up early this morning to start our adventure tour. Our guide David, is half Mayan and half African, he is a little guy with dred locks [View Full Entry]

Well this is a bit of a cheat because sad to say but we've already left and this comes from the Holiday Inn in LA.......I reluctantly made it to the plane. So here's how it all ended up in Belize. The last couple of days were our best yet, and that's saying something. After another fun night out, again at the Barefoot Bar, followed by pool at the Tipsy Tuna, on our final day Lucy and I were really keen to go snorkelling again, so off we went to see our friend Diana at Nite Wind. This time it was just [View Full Entry]
