Day 1 is gone and we are now into day 2. The weather has improved today with more sun and less wind and cloud. Still a lot bett than the weather in Lethbridge so no complaints here. The best part about being on a small island with limited activity is the biggest decision you will make all day is "where and I going to eat?"
Lets start with breakfast. We are creatures of habit so we usually go to a place called Amory cafe. Amory is a cute little wooden blue and orange building with a couple levels of picnic tables. It's located on Main Street and is a great spot to people watch. They serve everything from eggs to breakfast sandwiches to waffles. Another place we like to go is the Happy Lobster. They make a mean omellete and excellent fry jacks, a Belizean staple you need to try. I've also heard that Glenda's is good. We just haven't made it that far yet.
On our first night, we decided to mix it up a little. We usually eat at Rose's Grill on our first night but decided to try a place called Enjoy. I had the jerk
snapper and Derick had the curry. The food was delicious! we were pretty thrilled with it until Derick went to use the facilities. Now understand we don't have grand expectations. Most of the restaurant washrooms are outhouses, but this was really bad. On Dericks recommendation I wen back to check it out. What I found was a toilet barely attached to a broken concrete floor, a maze of old pipes supplying water but no sink and not a bar of soap in sight. The water spilled directly from the tap to the floor. I'm glad I use our hotel washroom befcame we left! The local government recognizes that this is a problem and a few of the candidates running for Council this year are pushing to build more public washroom facilities.
Last night for supper we ate at an Italian restaurant called Sandros. Normally we avoid eating at places that serve food that we can get at home, but Sandros is that one exception. Sandro Started his restaraunt business a number of years ago selling his homemade pasta dishes from a little yellow shack on the beach. He has now grown to a full sized garden restaurant with a
nice wine list (very hard to find in Caye Caulker!). It's a great atmosphere with great food. Not to be missed.
If you are wondering about lunch, we barely eat it especially if we are sedentary. But there are tons of options and I recommend walking down the beach and picking one of the vendors that are cooking tasty treats on the beach. If you are lucky, you will catch the shrimp man down towards the split. But don't expect him there every day. It really just depends on what kind of night he has had the night before.
Well I'd better go. I need to make my most important decision of the morning. Breakfast!

Hey, thanks for doing this. This will now be my evening reading. Just a little jealous as it is about -15 and snowing off and on.
