Caye Caulker Water Taxi'Caye Caulker Water Taxi'Caye Caulker Water Taxi'

The boat we took from San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye to Caye Caulker. Runs about every 2 hours between the two islands.
Today we took the Caye Caulker Water Taxi to Caye Caulker. $17.50 round trip, a quick 40 minute boat ride. When I saw all the people waiting for the boat, I begin to think it would be similar to stuffing a phone booth or a volkswagon, another words 5# of vaseline and a shoe horn would be needed to get another person on board, and add to that several thousand pounds of luggage and freight! But I was pleasantly suprised to find that when everyone and everything was loaded we were quite comfortable. Caye Caulker is smaller than Ambergris Caye and must less progressive. Dirt streets, no cars just golf carts and bicycles. If they had shore diving, we would pack it in tomorrow and move there, unfortunately the diving there is more expensive than it is here, and all has to be done by boat. Quiet and laid back describes this lovely little Caye. Same friendly people, and beautiful vistas of blue green oceans and swaying palm trees as Ambergris, however we did find Caye Caulker to be much cheaper than Ambergris. The resturants were much cheaper, and groceries were substantially cheaper. We took pictures of a lot of the

condos, hotels etc., so if/when we decide to come back we can spend more time on Caye Caulker. There is a place on the island called Da Split which is a channel that cuts through the island. There is a bar/resturant there called the Lazy Lizard that has a seawall where several people were snorkeling, kids were fishing and of course party goers were well ................partying. I think we will probably go back to Caye Caulker one more time before our trip is over as we found a place on the island that rents bicycles for $5 a day and we'd really like to ride around as much of the island as we can. It was really warm today when you were away from the water, so we spent most of our time on the beach. Next trip we'll bring our snorkel gear and do a little snorkeling and travel by bike to do more exploring.

We wish. Would be wonderful to have something like this to live on and sail between the islands.

This place was called Sea Side Cabanas and is a possibility of a place to stay on our next trip.

Everytime we walk past this wall there is an Iguana sitting in the hole in the wall. This guy is about 1/3 the size of the one that got in our condo and ended up in the bathrub.
