Geo: 24.3954, -76.6303Exuma Land and Sea Park Headquarters for an Easter Sunday Potluck! Fun! Worked with the staff at Wardrick Wells the following day. I was in the office and the voice of Exuma Park on the VHF radio and Tony was out on patrol with the Park Wardens and BDF. (Bahamian Defence Force). What a great experience!... read more

Geo: 24.3024, -76.5396I flew back to the boat on April 9th. Tony arranged for the Exuma Park Warden and the Bahamian Defence Force to make a run to Staniel Cay the day of my arrival so we had a VERY FAST ride back to Cambridge! (Like 35-40mph. Oh My!)A few folk at home asked about ice covering the Great Lakes!! Take a look! ... read more

We left a rainy weekend in NJ to venture to Newark airport dressed inappropriately but headed somewhere warmer. Parking at one of the long term parks was only $6 a day, eat that Sydney. Check in as usual for any of the American airlines such as United was painful and inefficient requiring several transactions with staff anyway so why not just line up like the old days? Security saw at least half of our packed lunch confiscated, yoghurt? come on. So we had to again buy the same provisions at twice the cost at the airport. Air travel these days... what's to like? The flight to Florida was rather turbulous and I was just happy to get there. Maybe I'm getting old or air travel is not what it used to be but I find it ... read more

I have often wondered the best way to judge a trip. Is it in the amount of Disney princess signatures? All of them! In the amount of naps taken? Few by those over the age of 8. Or the amount of books read? Did we bring a book....oh that's right, still in the bag or I think I used mine for a pillow on the flight home. Do you judge a trip by the number of disagreements? By the excitement of the first day? The weariness of the mid-trip? Or is by the last night? When everyone is still in sync, still smiling and realizing that it might not have been the trip that each one envisioned, but it was a good trip, a really good trip. This trip was about building relationships. With my two ... read more

We don't have internet here- have to go to a bar. So this will be short for now! We left Bimini and had a nice crossing over the Bahama Banks. What wonderful blue water! It's a bit scary at first to see grass and maybe coral below you , but after some time you get used to it and relax a bit. We made it to Chub Key by nightfall to anchor. The next morning we continued on to Nassau. We were able to sail for a bit and then of course the wind changed and we had to motor. We ran into some issues that I will get into later, but let's just say for now that we are in Nassau doing repairs. We have been here over a week, and we are hoping to ... read more

Our three vacation tourist days in Alice Town, Bimini turned into a week due to weather. We had the pleasure of walking the beaches on windy days even if we couldn't get in the ocean, and we had time to walk up as far as we could to the top of the island. Unfortunately for us, our picnic lunch on the top beaches was not to be... we didn't realize that the resort up there took over the whole top of the island with its condos and shops and soon-to-be casino. It was interesting to see- perfectly manicured grounds, infinity pool, huge yacht slips, bars, high end shops and very nice condos overlooking the water. I did however find it sad to see it all- up to that point other than the odd bar that was ... read more

Geo: 25.0533, -77.3273Thursday, March 20th, 2014Princess Cay, Eleuthera IslandBahamasThe Bahamian island of Eleuthera is 100 miles long and only 2 miles wide! It is kind of a long stick floating in the Atlantic. Princess Cay makes up 30 acres of the island. This area of the Bahamas is sub-tropical with about 340 days of sunshine a year. And this is one of those sun shiny days! We started our day with a workout - Jeff on the treadmill and weights while I did 3 miles around the deck. I would have done my usual 5 miles, but part of the Promenade was blocked off and it was crowded because of that.We had tried to sign up for two shore excursions; one on Grenada and one on Bonaire but they were both filled up. We are #1 ... read more
