This is where I write down my adventures when I'm out exploring the world.

Even though I had been waking up around 6 every morning, going up at 5 was really hard. But I manage to get up, pack all my food and lots of water and went out to meet up Mia. She picked me up and we got down to Taupo, met up with her friend Luke and hop on the shuttle that would drive us the 1.5h to the begin of the Tongariro Alpine Cross. Normally you go across the mountain and get picked up on the other side, but as I mention in the previous post the Northern part of the crossing are closed since they fear more eruptions. Tongariro is one of many active volcanoes in New Zealand and this one erupted twice last fall so I was told that if it erupted while we ... read more

Emma had her day off so we walked down to Taupo and I got myself some sandals before we headed down to the beach and meet her friend Dave and go out sailing on Taupo Lake for a couple of hours. I think we were out for about 3h sunbathing, swimming and chatting about what we have been up to for the past years. While we were on board Emma got a text from Mia asking if I would like to join her and a friend for the Tongariro Crossing the following day. Since I wasn't able to do the hike I had originally planned I thought that sounded awesome and accepted the invitation. So after we got a shore we went up to Taupo to get me some food and better shoes for the walk. ... read more

Time to head to Taupo and Emma! :D I have never flown Domestic before so I'm not sure if this is normal, but the check in was completely self served and I even but on the slip on my luggage and when I boarded I only handed my boarding pass. I never had to show my passport and there were no security check what so ever. That felt very very strange to be on a airport and not having people wanting to now what you have with you. The plane was also a bit different. Really small, just two rows and it couldn't fit more than 20 passenger. There was no top shelves so you had to keep your carry on luggage between your knees. The flight it self then only took about 40min and then ... read more

Today I decided to do the Coast to Coast walk. Now, I was a bit naive since I assumed that I would find food on the way so I only brought water. This was a terrible mistake since the track mostly run through parks and small communities, but with no stores or anything. I started out in the harbour and went up through many parks and up to one amazing viewpoint (as seen in the panorama picture). Besides not bringing any food I also had a map that doesn't show the full track and around where my map stopped the arrows did as well. So I wandered around hungry and tired in the sun for one extra hour before I found my way again as well as an Ice cream truck :D So I got myself ... read more

Bungy Jump day! Like yesterday I woke up around 6 in the morning and I spent the morning walking around in the harbour and try to not become to nervous. The jump wasn't scheduled until 1.30 so I had a lot of time strolling around. While at the harbour I found a sign about a Coast to Coast walk through Auckland so I decided that I would spend tomorrow doing that and have at least some kind of "hike". we Around 1 went to the pickup spot and met a Finnish guy who was also going to bungy jump and like me he was a bundle of nerves. His girlfriend were there as well, but she wasn't going to jump. They picked us up and we went to their office to sign papers agreeing that we won't ... read more

Since I sleept most of the day before I woke up at 6 and ready to take the world. After breakfast I went out to explore Auckland. Going up hill I soon started to wonder if I really was in the right country because every shop, resturant and so on were asian. Mainly Japanese or Korean and most sign where in does languages as well. (actually most people I met in Auckland were asian). Around lunch I got down to the harbour and found the I site (information site) where Department of Consvervation has their desk to see if they have an map over Lake Waikaramoana and if they new how I best got there. This is when I found out that the shuttle bus between Rotorua and Lake Waikaramoana only operates Sundays and Thursday, and ... read more

After I got out of the Airport I went straight to the Hostel to check in. Since I was supposed to be here one day earlier I could go straight to my room. I had a towel and some soap that I got at the check in, but since I didn't have any change of clothes I decided to go out and find something. I walked around for a bit in the sound but couldn't really find anything. Eventually I ended back at my hostel and noticed that I had a 2md hand shop right across the street. So a skirt and tank top later I went straight to the shower and felt somewhat more clean. I took another trip around Auckland but I soon find my self to tired ( I had at this point ... read more

I didn't thought I would have to make an entry for the flight, but apparently a lot can happend... I got to the airport in Sweden in time, but when I got to the gate I saw that my flight was delayed with 30min. I wasn't really worried since I had 2h at Heathrow between flights so I should be able to make it. While we were in the air they kept telling us that our flight to Singapore will wait and that there is nothing to worry about. When we finally reached London we had to circle around for a bit since there was a lot of traffic and when we finally landed we were about 1hour late - which leaved me with 1hour to get to my flight. Now, it wasn't as simple as ... read more

Finally! For ~14years I have dreamt about going to Australia and New Zealand, and now I'm finally on my way. My bags are packed, the apartment clean and I have left enough food for Sookie so my flatmate doesn't have to worry about her. The plan for this trip are somewhat loose. In NZ I will bungyjump (unless I freakout and faint), take a 3day hike around Lake Waikaramoana, meet up with an old friend from High School and take a trip to Hobbiton . In Australia I really have no plan at all. I want to try Surfing, visit a koala Sanctuary outside Brisbane and just relax. We'll see where I end up. Over and out, A... read more
