Our Visit to Katikati

We went to visit Sally and Ian's new home in Katikati this weekend. First we stopped off on the way down to see Joseph and Stacey - we met for lunch at the Lakeside Restaurant and Cafe and then had several cups of tea at their new home near the Lake before setting off to Katikati. On Saturday we strolled around Katikati and had coffee and muffins at a lovely cafe then walked along the Haiku Walkway before heading home for lunch. We had a lazy afternoon looking at photos and drinking tea before Sally cooked a lovely meal complete with Eves Pudding for dessert - yummy. Ben and Claire came up from Auckland today to see us for the weekend. Patrick, Ashlee and Flynn came too and we had a lovely roast dinner with birthday cake for dessert. Ben opened his presents and we looked at photos from his trip to the U.K. with Claire. Then we drank cups of tea and ate fudge!... read more

Today Ashlee was Ádmitted to the Bar' at the Whangarei High Court my Justice Brewer. There were family and friends there to see the event and everyone was pleased for Ashlee - well done!! Then we all went to Nectar Cafe to celebrate with coffee and muffins!... read more

Patrick and Ashlee came for dinner on Saturday to celebrate Patrick's birthday. We had roast dinner and cake for dessert. Flynn came too and sat on the deck looking through the window - even Kitty-cat enjoyed the evening snoozing in her basket and she wasn't scared off by Flynn.... read more

Today we decided to go to Ruakaka for a walk along the beach and to have morning tea out as it was such a nice sunny start to the day. We met Mum and Dad and had a good chat and catch up over coffee/tea. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed our morning.... read more

Joseph and Stacey purchased their first home on Friday 22nd July 2011. It is near the Lakes in Hamilton - a really good location . We picked up Patrick in Auckland on our way down to help them clean their new home and move the larger items of furniture. We managed to clean, pack and move with everyone's help. Today Jeff and Jakob came with the work van and trailer and we loaded up all the furniture etc and unloaded at the other end. It was very successful and Jeff and Paul (the muscle from Dunedin) worked very hard with all the heavy stuff with the other muscle from Dunedin lending a hand with the weaker contingent to move the lighter things. The fridge was emptied and re-filled at the other end. Lucky we had a nice cup of tea and American fudge brownie made by Jennifer at the other end and then home for late lunch. Sorry no photos of Mum's birthday but the cake made by Jennifer was enjoyed by all and Nicola, Jakob, Hanna, Tineke, Michael, and all our family were there to celebrate on the day - Friday 24 June.... read more

Today Mum and Dad got the keys of their new home! There is a lot to do but basically it is pretty tidy inside and just needs a bit of a clean. Outside there are a few things to sort out, but no rush and moving in is expected to take a couple of weeks when more muscle will arrive from Dunedin!!... read more

Today we went for our usual walk, back for breakfast, then had a slow meander looking at some old homes in Devonport and ended up for morning coffee at the Navy Museum cafe again! another look around the museum, then we set off home. We stopped at Mum and Dad's home on the way, and were treated to a delicious lunch of curry pumpkin soup - it was yummy thank you very much and finally home to feed the cat and try out the new bedding!... read more
