Today Leigh and I went for a swim at the heated pools and then for coffee before packing a picnic and heading out to the beach. We decided to go to Whananaki North as the last time I had been was at least 9 years ago and Leigh had never been! Today we packed a picnic and headed off the Mangawhai Heads. There were lots of road works so it was a tedious journey but we got there in the end. We started with a coffee which was delicious and then drove to the surf beach for a walk and look at the views!! After a slow drive, due to more road works, we passed Langs Beach and then ended up at Waipu Cove for lunch. We did not take any more photos but went for another walk and it was the best place to stop.... read more

Today we packed another picnic and headed out early to Wellingtons Bay for a walk along the beach - it was deserted! Then we drove to Tutukaka and looked at the boats..... We wondered why there were camermen everywhere, plus reporters - then we saw why....the small Navy launch had grounded on some rocks and was towed to Tutukaka - the Navy divers were there trying to refloat it.... gradually the bow was getting higher and higher- I took so photos. Time for coffee at Schnapper Rock and another crossword to complete in the sunshine. It was too cold in the water for a swim, so we had our picnic at Whangaumu Bay and then drove home.... read more
This morning, the first day of my holiday, Leigh, Jennifer and I went to the swimming pool for a swim - it was very nice and we felt energised afterwards. We went home and had a cup of tea and a slice of freshly made bread and then Jennifer had to go to work. Leigh and I took a picninc and went to Waipu first, where we rummaged through the second hand bric a brac at the Op Shop and bought some lovely old drinking glasses and some cups and saucers. Then we nosed in all the shops including the Pharmacy where Jennifer worked for a week and then had a lovely coffee at the best cafe in Waipu! Thsi morning Leigh and I met Mum and Dad at Beach Road in Onerahi for a walk and cup of tea. There were lots of fishermen out on their boats, several sailing yachts and even some outrigger canoes. Even though it was windy, we have never seen it so busy! They must know somethng we don't - maybe good fishing weather? Here are some photos taken by Dad.... read more

This morning we all met at Mum and Dad's home in the Avenues to celebrate another birthday - 83 today!! The cake was maderia and it was delicious as were the shortbread biscuits. Dad liked the present of the bird bath and bird feeder which was placed under the tree in the garden. Michael, Catherine, Jason and Anita weren't there as they were away on holiday in Tauranga. And Rylee was not very well so Mike stayed at home to look after her! Mum, Dad, Leigh and I also went to Ashlee and Patrick's for dinner - we had home made fish and chips and banana cake for dessert - we sat outside and it was a lovely end to a happy day!!... read more
We celebrated New Years' Eve at Patrick and Ashlee's place - thank you to them for inviting us all - we had good fun and the food was really nice. Unfortunately no photos, but we met for morning tea on New Years' Day to say goodbye to Sally and Ian so here are a couple of photos!!... read more
I had a brilliant day today!! Leigh, Joseph, Stacey, Jennifer and I all went for a swim at the loal swimming pool. Then we met Ashlee, Patrick, Sally and Ian at McDonalds for coffee. I had loads of lovely presents - speakers for the computer, a folding chair for picnics, a pendant for my necklace, a sushi making kit, new chopping board and pegs, posh shampoo and conditioner, some body creams etc etc..... I had calls and texts too from Ben, Michael, Tineke, Nicola, Alesha, Toni......... read more
