Here's me on top of the Empire State Building. New York was possibly one of my favourite places ever, only because it was unlike anything I've ever experienced. It's obviously what everyone says, in that for the mostpart people are quite rude and aggressive, but I think all extremes breed rebellion. And that was definitely the case in New York. One night my friend was in a bad mood and storming back to our hostel. As he was walking he felt a hand grabbing his shoulder. He spun round and it was a girl of about 25 who just said "It's [View Full Entry]

This was taken in Death Valley in Nevada. I don’t know why we went there. Every other place we went had their busy season in summer but, as it turned out, nobody visited Death Valley in summer except for idiot travellers. Like us. When we got there it was upwards of 50 degrees Celsius. The hotel was completely dead. As we were walking up to the door there was a really tired looking dog hanging about the door but I couldn’t see an owner. One of the three employees came out to greet us. I asked he [View Full Entry]

This was taken on our last day in San Francisco. We’d rented bikes to get around and I’d spent the whole time about 200 metres behind Fraser struggling to get enough breath to shout out “slow down”. I suspect he was only pretending not to hear. Bastard. This was taken on a well deserved rest. I’d recommend the bike thing for anyone going there but I would also recommend only travelling with someone of a similar fitness level to yourself. It’s difficult to enjoy the surrounding [View Full Entry]

Great Wall Asia » China » Beijing » Great Wall of China
Here's me on the Great Wall of China. I have always wanted to go there, so that's one of the things on the list with a big fat tick next to it. I was over visiting my brother who lives in Beijing teaching English at an international school. You might notice that I look slightly stressed out in this photo. That is because I have not had a cigarette in two weeks. It was a family holiday and I kept an emergency one in my pocket for the whole time, should the opportunity arise for me to smoke it. But that [View Full Entry]

This is me on the inca shrine in Pisac, Peru. Bit of a trek to get there but well worth the hassle. [View Full Entry]

I’d been staying with a friend in Seoul, South Korea. He was teaching English there and had a flat just out of the city centre. This photo was taken near his flat one evening before we all (me and his flatmates) went out for dinner. After the meal I wasn’t feeling too great and decided to head back to his. It was only about 9pm, so he put me in a taxi and told the driver his address. But when the taxi got there the fare was about three times the amount that it had been when it took us [View Full Entry]

This is me on a bobsleigh in Lillehammer in Norway (a before, not after, picture). I paid far too much to have a go on it. I'm glad I did though. The way it worked there was a driver, then me and then the brakeman at the back. They were both nice guys but very serious, ex military I imagine. The run wasn’t that long, compared to a ski run or anything, but long enough to make me feel nervous before lift off. In fairness it doesn't take much, the pussy that I am. But once we were on the move [View Full Entry]

I’ve always wanted to see a baobab in real life. I think it’s a Petit Prince thing. I just like saying Baobab in a corny French accent. Or to the tune of the Maoman biscuit ad jingle. So this is me in Madagascar, living the dream. On the whole I loved that country, despite the fact that it was so hot I sincerely considered shaving my head every single morning. Which takes me to something I found quite interesting: in more rural areas a lot of people felt the need to come up and touch my head. Not in an aggressive [View Full Entry]

This is me at Scott base camp in the Antarctic. It was just me and another guy, John, that had set out together and for six months leading up to our departure we thought we’d managed to plan for every single eventuality. We knew exactly where we were to be by what time every day and packed only a little more food than was required for the whole trip. But, true to form, the schedule went a little bit to shit to say the least. We got held up by a massive, unexpected snow storm for more days than we had [View Full Entry]

This photo was taken at Milford Sound, in New Zealand’s south island. This is hands down the most beautiful place I've ever visited. We were staying in a hostel that was like something from a horror movie. It consisted of log cabins in a forest and was powered by a generator that went off at 11pm. We were only there for two days, waiting for enough snow to get some snowboarding in a town called Wanaka, a few hours north. While we were there I got chatting to an Australian guy who had a really girly na [View Full Entry]
