Hau 'oli Kamali'i! Happy Children! Well, today I slept in until 6:00 am and mind you that is noon on Michigan time. I have been up at 4:30, 5:15 and 5:30...so when I noticed the sun was up and I was still in bed I panicked because every sleeping moment is almost like wasted moments here. Today is the day the kids have been waiting for ALL week...the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet...or swat meet,or swamp meet as it has been called. It is Hawaii's largest open-air flea market. They have been waiting to spend all hard earned kala (dollars) on souvenirs and we have been told this is the place to go. Well, it did not disappoint! Ka'Leo heaheai na manu e There amidst the splendor! Wow, I can't believe its Monday already. Time sure flies when you are having fun and we had a lot of fun today even though it was definitely on the cold and cloudy side. It kept looking like the clouds were going to burn off, but it never really did. The kids kept saying, " I thought it was supposed to be warm in Hawaii?" I had to remind them it had to be warmer than back in Michigan, in fact, the first local we met in the town of Haleiwa asked if we had come here to defrost. Nani Moku Beautiful Island Waking up early is going to be easy this vacation, as Aaron and I were up at 5:30 and enjoyed our Hawaiian Kona coffee listening to the birds and the ocean on our lanai (balcony). The sun was up by 6:15 and so was Maggie and Brett and Hanna followed shortly after around 7:15. We made a delicious breakfast of pancakes with coconut syrup and apple bananas. Wow, is that coconut syrup amazing! It's a mixture of sugar and coconut milk purée. Lisa, you were so right about that stuff you could put it on everything. I even put it in my coffee. Aloha 'Oe Family and Friends! The Evans Family is hitting the road again (well the skies) for sun, sand and relaxation on the gorgeous shores of Kapolei. After being buried under snow and ice during this incredibly long winter...that just won't let go...our Hawaiian vacation can't get here soon enough. This will be a whole new experience for us since it is our first time flying as a family and our first "warm" weather vacation. As you know, we are usually heading out into grizzly country...this time it's sea turtles, tropical fish, dolphins and more!
