Well the answer is Melbourne. After farewelling Elizabeth in the gala style we have all become accustomed to I settled back into life in Tasmania for hmmm... about 2 weeks. Then it was back to New Zealand for ANOTHER fabulous holiday This time to the west coast and it was absolutely wonderful. Fresh fish every day a long bike ride that Lisa enjoyed more than anyone right Lis a absolutely s

Fuelled by all that wonderful food we were off to Freycinet National Park. Full of energy and the excitement of people who have no idea what to expect we decided to take on Mount Amos upon arrival recommended by my lovely sister I'll deal with you later Lisa. Not so much of a walk but a semivertical rock scramble we made it to the top in under the recommended time. It was all worth it as th

After a wonderful time in NZ it was time to go home. A mildly traumatic goodbye to Elizabeth in Wellington over many Linhausers was followed by my first flight by myself in two months arriving safely in Launceston to be met by Mum and to be reaquainted with all the alpacas they weren't at the airport of course but I'm sure they would have been if they could have been. No time for resting though

We have just spent the last three days walking and kayaking in Abel Tasman National Park and it did not disappointThe walking was amazing and once again New Zealand put on a lovely show for us with stunning views at every step from the moment we hopped off the boat.
After a vague few hours in Auckland airport where we managed to miss Jackson by only an hour lose the Qantas Club and also pass through the same security checkpoint three times two very jetlagged travellers arrived in wonderful Queenstown. All that was on our minds was staying awake all day or at least until our Milford briefing at 4pm. What better way to do that than stock up on Starbuck

Well we have made it to the land of the long white cloud and heavenly sauvignon blanc. Along with two bottles of pisco sours it's going to be hard to let go... and a healthy supply of alfajores not all for our consumption of course... I'm not going to talk about how awful LAN Chile is or how we've already managed to get lost looking for the Qantas lounge in this tiny airport... The important t

Well apparently where we were yesterday wasn't the highest point in Santiago although it felt like it at the time. We climbed the mountain with the huge statue of the Virgin today and I'm fairly sure that was it It wasn't totally intentional but the funicular wasn't going to open until 1pm and there was no Starbucks at the bottom.I had spent the morning travelling to the Australian Embassy and

Its been a fabulous weekend in Santiago. Despite being passportless we were determined to enjoy the weekend. Saturday was spent wandering around the city and climbing the citys highest point then promptly falling down it much to the delight of a travelling Kiwi called Mike could there be another.Sunday was spent in Valparaiso.
After a fantastic few days crossing the border illegally in a white water raft with a bunch of crazy but fun Irish people to legally crossing on a ferry with a group of loud annoying Israelis I have arrived in Santiago. After a brief game of Where is Emmas Passport we quickly established that it must still be on a plane because it is no longer in my bag. Oh dear. So much for being the organ

All with only half an iPod worth of battery due to what we now know as the Patagonian Disaster that followed the Antarctic Miracle. Its a long and tragic story...We had our Farewell Gala Dinner at a lovely restaurant just near our hostel. Palm he

I dont want to sound spoiled but we have seen A LOT of glaciers... They surrounded us at every turn in Antarctica so many in fact most of them dont even have names. Weve seen icebergs calve weve climbed up icy hills surrounded by penguins attacked by skuas and watched carefully by cranky looking fur seals. We walked for 3 and half hours to be rewarded with Greys Glacier on the W def

After a day of travelling I made it to Santiago. I didnt see much of the city apart from the 10 minute walk from the bus station. I felt very intrepid jumping on a local bus from the airport rather than getting one of the millions of taxis waiting outside the airport.
A Day in the Life of an Alpaca Farmer

After my resounding success looking after the farm for one day John and Gwen confidently set off for Sunshine in Victoria with the fleeces leaving Mum and I in charge at the farm. Their confidence was well founded. The farm ran like a welloiled machine and they returned two days later with the farm pretty much how they left it. A typical day for those not of farming backgrounds went something

Its all go back at the maternity ward as we anxiously await the babies of Isabella Tu Tu and Snow Cloud. We think that the as the weather is so hot and dry they are holding off for cooler more pleasant birthing circumstances. Either that or they are waiting for John and Gwen to leave today for Melbourne with Mum and I in charge Hmmmm

Normally when one goes home on holidays a request from your Dad to mow the lawn does not seem like a big deal. Its when the lawn is 11 acres of grapevines populated by huge spider webs under construction snakes sunbathing and a high maintenance goat a simple household chore is transformed into an extreme sport. Overall it was a lovely couple of days spent in the sun. At the end of it
