| 29th November 2008 Lolo | - From: Ups and downs on the rollercoaster of life sorry to hear about your puppy dood :( |
| 13th October 2008 GM | bravo - From: digging and planting, cooking and feasting... and malevolent tree munching goats You are really doing great things, bravo ! It is wonderful to be able to follow your activities, including your fancy cooking !!! Just a little different from Coppet...We are just back from Jackson, via NY and crossing the Ocean Blue on the Queen Mary 2. Your GP's dream. Jackson was beautiful, great weather, leaves turning gold. We worked hard on the house and the garden, making it ready for winter. Here, it is time to pick apples, again, wish you were here to help ! Your Dad was in good shape, he is traveling right now, business is hard these days. The Elections in the US are occupying everyone's mind, the choice is difficult to make. Keep being busy and doing what you are doing, McCain was mentioning how important Organizations like the Peace Corps are for the world now, and how US citizens should volunteer...So you are right in, congratulations ! We think of you often, Love, GM |

| 10th September 2008 Dave's mom | OMG - From: urban poverty may be tougher than rural poverty Vincent, congrats on your swear-in and your commitment to Africa. What you just described reminds me of what I have seen on TV about slave labor and child selling conditions. I do hope that does not go on...although the poverty is appalling enough. I pray that you and the others who serve in country will be able to contribute in making a "difference" (according to your heart and talents) . Shalom, mama duck |

| 4th September 2008 Lori | blogosphere - From: chicken in a bag i'm now a real contributor to the blog world! great chatting with you! Sounds like things are moving along well. will let ya know when the package heads out!! take good care! lz |
| 2nd September 2008 jfroux | general remarks - From: chicken in a bag I read your blog again, i am awaiting the next one imarpatiently. di you get my package. what do you want a hood for? you look like one of snowwhite dwarfs. When you teach, emphasize one or two points a session, it is enough for anybody and seat the trouble makers if any in front. be patient and understanding, mix and talk to your students, know their problems. You probably know all that. everybody is fine here, nadege has a second hand car. love gp |
| 27th August 2008 PD | - From: chicken in a bag Good to see your getting into even more different foods :) Love reading your entries. Hope all is well, peace. |

| 16th August 2008 jfroux | general remarks - From: chicken in a bag I enjoy your journalistic comments, very well written and thoughful. I like to know from your experience now what you think of modern life! you are in a real world and this will enrich your mind. A simple life is better than a sophisticated one. However i can see that some of our modern amenities may be very helpful. Your teaching is very interesting, it is not worse that the crowded classes of our universities in Europe and USA. Your students are just as ignorant of computer as I was in early medical school time of new technologies. Be patient, be understanding, and you will see how young minds grow. I envy what you are doing. congratulations. food looks good . i will send you a package, i understand the pleasure of getting on. salute. gp |
| 31st July 2008 Lolo | wow - From: where do i begin? hey dood. i've heard so much about your blog and just thought i'd give it a read. totally crazy awesome. not sure if you remember, but i'm from botswana and its just interesting to read your take on being in africa (for the first time?). not only that but burkina faso sounds sooo different to bots but there are threads of similarity that run throughout your blog. the way you describe bath time, washing clothes and stuff, i remember being in a village in botswana and having to do pretty much the same things.. I haven't seen you in an age so I don't know what made you wanna join the Peace Corps etc but I'd be really interested to hear about it. You've totally picked up on a bunch of things I always try to remind myself everytime I come back from Africa. ''try not to waste food and water'' and just a have a general appreciation what I do have. Its so easy to forget. So easy. I guess what I'm tryin to say is keep writing cos its an awesome read. Be well man. bisous x x |

| 24th July 2008 jillian | - From: The bus...or a Mercedes Benz je suis desole my dear, your right I should choose my words carefully we are all going to have a unique experience that is formated just for us right so one can not say one is better then the other for until one has been to the otherside that is when one will truly know.... |
| 20th July 2008 jacques Roux | accident - From: Welcome to West Africa, would you like some parasites with your viruses and amoebas today? How about some gastro-intestinal bacterial infections to begin with? very good history about the accident. The reaction of the crowd is typical of any crowd around the world. The help delay is also typical of an out of town accident. Sometimes not touching the victims is better than intervening quickly after the accident. let nature do the job. if you should die it happens in the next 10 minutes sooooo. i sent a package with some hand lotion for your cleaning. good writing, you are lucky to see the life of natural people. you may realize how many things we do not need and the real mental value which you derive from a down to earth life, use every minute of it. love gp |
| 20th July 2008 vincentinafrica | - From: The bus...or a Mercedes Benz hey now i dont think thats fair. i didnt choose to be in the situation i am in, it happened that way. and i dont doubt you know already how much i wanted the "true burkina adventure" and how much i envy the peeps heading southwest and living in mud huts. but what can i do? for one im going to come visit, and secondly im going to be happy with what i get even if its not as rural as i had hoped for. |
| 19th July 2008 Jillian | Whatever - From: The bus...or a Mercedes Benz Whatever kid, your experience does not capture the true nature of a burkina adventure. I am excited you have a pimp house Ill deff come for thanksgiving, though you cant compaire to my mud hut with no running water two rooms and well at least i have a closed yard and big beautiful trees and rolling hills around ha...its crazy how different the experience is only 350 km away.... |

| 7th July 2008 Gramma Allenbrucejackie | Nice going! - From: where do i begin? Hi Vincent, We loved the long description of your location and your life so far in Burkina Faso. The way you write about the food, it sounds really good. The heat would have done me in, though. We are looking forward to the next entry. My mother, your grandmother ,Martha, would have appreciated your comments on saving water. She grew up without running water. They went to a well with horse and buggy. Baths were only once a week and the Father got the first dip, then the Mother, and then down the line. It was in a huge metal trough like container that they brought into the kitchen from the yard on Sat. night. All water was boiled to drink and usually made into coffee. She always scolded me about letting the water run unneccessarily. sp? Take care of yourself, The better to be able to care for others. Love and kisses |
