| 10th November 2009 Chris Anna | You used 'tiki tour' - From: Mamutik - snorkelling in the rain That's very kiwi! I was looking for blogs about my hometown and noticed that you had Whangarei as the title of one of your blogs. I'm originally a Whangarei girl, my family still lives there. Ha ha, Whangarei by any chance? |
| 3rd November 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: the end glad you are enjoying the blogs. we cant remember the exact name of the reserve with the white lion. It was a Rhino and Lion Reserve, and may have had a "wonder cave" there too. |
| 3rd November 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: Mamutik - snorkelling in the rain Yes we are! What gave it away? |
| 28th October 2009 Chris Anna | Enjoyed your blogs about Malaysia - From: Mamutik - snorkelling in the rain Thinking of heading that way hopefully next year. Are you guys Northlanders by any chance? |

| 24th September 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: Farewell to the Land Below The Wind Leech socks were a christmas present, sorry. I'm pretty sure you can buy them in Borneo. I think Summer Lodge had them, plus other places. And we did see what looked and smelled like wads of tobacco in the markets. |
| 23rd September 2009 dianne | - From: Farewell to the Land Below The Wind Hi Where do you buy the leech proof socks? Apparently it is best to soak your socks in tobacco but you can stuff bits down your socks!! |
| 14th September 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: Farewell to the Land Below The Wind As before about hostels and leeches. Sorry it took a while to respond, we've been away from the internet for a bit. One of the joys of travelling! |
| 14th September 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: Farewell to the Land Below The Wind We stayed one night in the X-Plorer Backpackers, it was ok. Then we moved to the Summer Lodge which I would recommend. Slightly more expensive but a much nicer and more social common area and a better breakfast. The whole place was just lighter and brighter. As for tobacco and leeches - dont know, we had leech socks and they were fine. Would like to know about the tobacco for another time though! |
| 14th September 2009 dianne | leeches/backpackers - From: Farewell to the Land Below The Wind Hi Just as a matter of interest can u recommend a hostel in KK in case hosts don't work out. Also does the tobacco theory work on leeches? Apparently they don't like the smell. |
| 11th September 2009 dianne | Hostels and leeches - From: Farewell to the Land Below The Wind Hi to you 2 travellers What hostel would you recommend in KK? Always handy to have a back up plan if hosts don't work out for some reason. How did you get rid of the leeches? I read somewhere about them not liking tobacco and to stuff it down your socks! |
| 9th September 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: Hot Springs and Hiking - around Kinabalu Park It'll be great to compare Asia stories! Let us know when you are up our way. |
| 9th September 2009 Ferdi and Talita | Asia, Oh what fun! - From: Hot Springs and Hiking - around Kinabalu Park We think all Asian bus-drivers go to the same driving school! They're all mad! Love the butterfly pictures, especially the dead leaf one! We're currently enjoying Wanaka. Weird to be reversed like this! Enjoy! See you soon! |
| 7th September 2009 Brian Lawson | its your last week - From: Palm tree paradise? Heading down the Kinabatangan Hi its your old work mate, You know the one who some times gives you a ride home after work. Just read your blogs, The leech's look like fun but the under water photos don't look to bad. Don't think much of your room mates could do with a shave they all look a bit hare to me. Must be the heat don't worry you've only got a week left I'm shore it wont affect you. Unless of course you get bit by any leech's plenty to gossip about when you get home just have a grate last week sorry did I say last week ? Your frend and mine Brian utan Lawson. |
| 3rd September 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: Mabul and Kapalai Thanks for the scorpionfish. We ended up just staying on the rig in the end. If the weather had been better while we were there, we probably would have had another day or two on Mabul. The diving was great, just not mind blowing - we saw your pics from the other month and it certainly looks like you did have fantastic diving. Oh well, maybe another time, another place ;o) |
| 3rd September 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: Mamutik - snorkelling in the rain Thanks! We have a better fish book back in NZ, just didnt fancy carrying the extra weight! As for having fun - always! |
| 31st August 2009 tracie mitchell | Mabul - From: Mabul and Kapalai Hi Guys, have been keeping track of your latest travels. Looks like you're having a marvellous time. As always, we are dead jealous !! Hope the rest of your holiday is just as good. |
| 30th August 2009 Ferdi and Talita | Diving Mabul - From: Mabul and Kapalai Sorry to hear that the diving wasn't that great! As you know, we had great diving there. The weather does make a big difference, but there's no excuse for the rubbish! That must be one of Asia's biggest problems. By the way, that scorpionfish is called the Smallscale Scorpionfish (in our marine book). Did you stay on Mabul or just the rig? Keep at it and enjoy! |
| 30th August 2009 Ferdi and Talita | Fishies - From: Mamutik - snorkelling in the rain We don't have our marine book with us, but the one that look like a boxfish is a type of Toadfish. We think the Anemonefish you're not sure of is a False Clownfish and the realy big dark red Clownfish are actually Anemonefish. The banded ones are a type of Angelfish, maybe the Sixband Angelfish? That's our best guess. Anyway... Keep having fun! |
| 27th August 2009 Bert J A Geldenhuys | KK - From: Kota Kinabalu welcomes you I am amazed, where do you find the time to do all this writing and how do you keep record whilst walking about. Very well written. |

| 29th April 2009 Mel | Robin Cameras - From: Waikaremoana Wonderland Ha ha ha, the comment of the robin family looking at pictures of humans was hilarious! ha ha... I still say Trounson Kauri park (almost directly across from Whangarei on the peninsula) is your best bet to hear Kiwi, if not see them. I saw a Kaka in the Pureora Forest Park (north west of Taupo). I didn't know what it was at the time, but have some pretty shadowy pictures and video as proof! It was quite content prying bark of a tree and looking for bugs! |
| 27th April 2009 Mel Dohner | Low Water Flow - From: Pacific Coast Highway - Seabird Coast to Lake Tarawera Hey, really glad to see the pictures up again. What a pain! They are lovely though, thanks for the effort :-) It's strange that the Tarawera falls were so much smaller for you guys. There was one outflowing much higher up when I was there in September! It came down the long crack on the left, just visible between the bush. Guess you'll just have to go back!!! |
| 22nd April 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: The Rock, the Bridge, the experience. four letters, something the prisoners werent |

| 19th April 2009 twotravelbugs | - From: East Cape - an experience in many ways Tiritiri Matangi is on the list of places to visit one day, when we can find a dog / chicken sitter for the weekend! Didnt realise though that you can stay over night. Thanks for reading our blogs and taking the time to write. It's great to know someone reads them! |
| 18th April 2009 Jo Trouble | Kiwi spotting - From: East Cape - an experience in many ways Hi guys, If you want to see a kiwi try Tiritiri Matangi - that's where I managed to do it :-) You can get the ferry from Central Auckland or Gulf Harbour. Highly recommend staying overnight, cos then you get the rest of the afternoon after the day trippers have gone back, and you can wander all over the island at night :-) Great trip. |
| 7th April 2009 Jo Trouble | New Years revisited - From: Pacific Coast Highway - Seabird Coast to Lake Tarawera Hi Karen & Colin, Sounds like you had a great time - your entry was a bit like revisiting my time over NYs at The Mount and Waihi :-) |
| 11th September 2008 Mel | Well taught luggage - From: Sir, I have a message from your bags... Hi guys. Wow! It sounds like your adventures are off to a good start. Glad to hear that you are settled (and safe) in Cuba, but - DANG - you make me so glad that I am not doing any airplane travelling for a while! Oh man, wondering around airports, gate changes, and missing luggage! And hey, what can you expect from your gear - I mean it probably likes exploring the world as much as you two do! Any idea where they were trying to run off to? |
| 17th May 2008 larysa | just passing through... - From: The "Hill of Penh" - Phnom Penh I wish I can spend a week in Cambodia as well.. but my mother and I have only 8 days. | 20th November 2007 Gini | Thanks : ) - From: The "Hill of Penh" - Phnom Penh Wow, thanks very much for your comment, thats really kind. I only thought it was my family and some bored friends reading this on their lunch hour in the office... I hope your travelling is going well, it looks like you've been all over the place! I just read your own blog on S21 and it took me right back to those classrooms - its some place, for all the wrong reasons. Hope your legs have taken you onwards to somewhere more positive and up beat. Happy travels (and blogging) Steve : ) |
