Mid year break! Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Cardiff
Who would've thought that it could be June so quickly? I have finally found a wonderful church, called All Nations, that is totally blowing my hair back! The first time I went in there, they were celebrating what God has been doing in the church, and how he's bringing so many nations together - that despite being from many different backgrounds, cultures etc - we are all part of God's family, and so brothers and sisters in christ. They showed a DVD (not quite Matty's standard!), letting the rest of the church know a bit more about who is in [View Full Entry]

Summer time! Europe » United Kingdom » Wales
Its incredible how time just flies. The days are getting longer and longer, offering more and more time to explore some of beautiful wales. This past month has been a whirlwind of mini adventures, particularly on my mountain bike. One day while riding home, I noticed a young lady pushing a mountain bike up the hill. Always being on the lookout for fellow mountain bikers, I stopped to see if she had a technical problem. Fortunately though she was just eating her cheese sandwich! However, we got chatting and when it came to going our separate ways, we swopped numbers [View Full Entry]

THE TUP

So spoilt were we, where after a brilliant week skiing in France, JP put on his “Jean Paul” clothes and we headed off to Italy to meet up with his dad, Gustavo, and little brother Damian to “meet the family”. Without any arrival plans, Angelo (JP’s uncle) somehow found us at Milan airport and took us back to his home in Viguzollo to meet Graziella and be fed the first of many incredible, home made Italian meals. After that, we didn’t stop eating, and it was seldom less then a three course meal! I’ve never eaten so much good food! [View Full Entry]

SKIING! Europe » France » Rhône-Alpes » Grenoble
HOORAY for snow, and mountains, and friends! Julia Knight, Pete Hind, Johannes Pietrus and myself have just spent a brilliant week at Alpe D'Huez, in France. It was a brilliant week of catching snow flakes on eyelashes for the first time (for some), learning to ski (Jules) and snowboard (JP); visiting the longest black run in Europe (16km), where the air was so thin we all felt lightheaded, and giggled watching the brave and stouthearted plummet off the edge at the beginning of the slope; and just generally have an awesome week! I dont think i've ever been so cold [View Full Entry]

Girls getaway to rest, relax and have fun! Nels, Amy, Lisa and I have just spent a wonderful weekend away at Lisa’s family’s brand new log cabin, in some tiny Welsh village, near St Davids (UK’s smallest city!). I’ve had such an expectancy for this weekend, and it was more then met. On Saturday we did a lovely long coastal walk, stopping at the little bays and beaches, skimming stones and having some unhurried DMC’s, while “aweing” at the beauty around us. That night while spending time with God and praying for each other, He arrived in a way that [View Full Entry]

Baptism weekend Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Cardiff
Amy's big day finally arrived! We had a lovely dinner with all her friends at some quaint little chinese restuarant - where you just arrive and sit at these long tables and read menu's which is a bit like playing baldedash! And then get this wonderful surprise when your food arrives and you get to actually see what it is! The service on sunday morning was really special, and so encouraging as Amy shared about God's faithfulness in her life, and how He has "ruined her for the ordinary". Life just isnt the same once you've met the creator of the [View Full Entry]

Home Sweet Home Africa » South Africa » Free State » Drakensberg
What a blessing the past 6 weeks have been - to soak up being in a family again, to have home cooked meals and just sit and chat face to face; revisit Umhlanga Medigate Centre and enjoy lazy Sunday afternoons in swimming pool with my siblings, just like we used to when we were little.. For Linda’s birthday we had a brilliant weekend away at Highover, where we spent 2 wonderful days tubing down rapids and making the most of the foo-fee slide that had been built across the river. Christmas was also special to have the family all together, and [View Full Entry]

Champagne valley Africa » South Africa » Free State » Drakensberg
For my birthday, I was able to spend it with my family, in one of my most favourite places in the world... the drakensberg... My dad managed to find a cottage (to sleep about 20 people!!) high up in the mountains in the Champagne valley area. Here we spent 7 glorious days tucked up beneath a towering ridge, near Monks Cowl, and away from the rush of everyday living. This was particularly good for my folks. Days were spent playing tennis, hiking and of course speed scrabble, as the road was too hectic to be able to get in and out [View Full Entry]

Calling all Salsero's Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Cardiff
Its taken 3 weeks, but finally i've discovered the salsa scene in Cardiff, and whats more, have found a friend to tag along! Lisa had never seen salsa before, but thought it sounded fun - little did she know that it was that and so much more! We found out about a Valentines Salsa party on friday, so went to check out the vibes! We had such fun pottering around lisa's little attic room getting ourselves ready - tryng very hard to convince Amy... but havent been too successful just yet! Lisa was great - and with blond hair, blue eyes [View Full Entry]
