Hello, There are 3 videos above. Just hit play and it will run through them all. The break dancing was very impressive and our best videos didn´t turn out in the lighting...some of which included cartwheels and various flip tricks with the little kid holding onto a bigger kid´s stomach upside down. The little kid had his own moves as well! We took a bus from Antigua to Managua and arrived at night. As I said, Guate City was sketchy and so is Managua. All the big cities down here are while the more rural areas are not. As soon as we got off, we were swamped by the typical welcoming committee...a swarm of aggressive taxi drivers. After some hassel, we succeeded in awarding a female driver our service and were firm on $20 for the ... read more
hello, Arrive on 10/17. Sorry the last Europe updates sucked, but I was burned out on it and just looking forward to Central America. As you will see by the pictures, Guatemala was incredible. Just to guide you spatially, we arrived in Guatemala City (in the South pretty much) and went further south to Sipacate, then back to Guate City, then in a counter-clockwise loop to Rio Dulce, the ruins in Tikal, and Semuc Champey. We ended in Antigua before heading to Nicaragua. I chose to tell the stories under the appropriate pictures hoping it would be more interesting. Scroll down for the other pictures on this page and then hit next for further pages of pictures...you can just click the picture or "more" to view the rest of the narrative for a given picture.... read more
Hello, Arrive afternoon of 10/11 (I think) and took a nap because Claire was still sick. We woke up and ate a kebap before going back to bed. Wake next morning and go on walking tour. Berlin has a fairly dark history and the whole experience was enhanced by the cold rain and wind that pounded us most of the day. We saw two movies here, Ugly Truth and UP. I really liked UP. A bit sad for my taste, but that´s simultaneously the same reason I liked it. We visited a work camp called Sachsenhausen. Overall, there was a lot of emotion in this last stop of Europe; learning the history makes that a reality. Then we flew to Miami for a couple days to visit my friend Norm. We had a good time and ... read more
10/8 Arrive in Prague in the afternoon, hung around hostel, saw prague next day. It´s a beauty of a city with a rich history. We mostly enjoyed it via a free walking tour that my friend Megan suggested. Megan is a friend from HS who now works in Prague and it was very interesting catching up over drinks later that night. I came down with the swine flu (unconfirmed but pretty sure) and so we ended up staying a few days. Claire became sick a couple days later. It was a nasty little bug, lasting about 4 days for me and 5-6 for Claire. I almost puked one night and Claire did during lunch at a cafe. haha, oh well, we are now immune. Ah, my favorite part was actually drinking with five german physics students ... read more
Hello, 10/6 I don´t have any pictures from Vienna but we were here and I liked it. We arrived via overnight train with some quirky vienna ladies. One guy in the car over got his wallet stolen. We took the tram around the city, saw museum quarter, and saw vienna university - which I liked very much.... read more

Hello, 9/30 - We spent the morning wrapping up things on Santorini. One of owners of our hotel (the husband, grumpy greek Nikos) had promised that someone would take us back to port at 2:30pm. His wife showed up a little late and in a blazed up state...we detected from the car scent. So she proceeded to slowly wind all over the road down to the port while talking on the phone. We made it though, whew. An 8 hour ferry ride later and we arrived in Athens at 12am. We decided not to pay for accommodation and tough it out at the train station. It was closed, but a cafe was open next door. So we chilled with the randos and wild packs of dogs. Two trains and one bus later, we were back in ... read more
Hello, 9/26 - Morning of 9/26 we took a bus back up north to Athens. We were a little sad to leave our great setup in the beautiful town of Kardimylia. We arrived in Athens and found the city bus we needed pretty quickly. After taking a metro train to our intended area, we discovered the hostel no longer exists and no others were in that area. Back on the metro to the Acropolis area, we were sure to find places there. First place full, second as well, except for a little closet on the roof - i kid, but it was small. Great views outside the room of the acropolis and athens though and at 25 euros a night, a nice score. On 9/27 we took a five hour ferry to the island of Santorini, ... read more
Hello, 9/22 - 9/26 Ryan: One night in Tropea, Claire and I had a few drinks and decided that Greece sounded good. So that's it, our first train was at 6:50am the next morning and we arrived in Brindisi (on the West coast of Italy, port jump off point) at 6pm. We took four trains and one 15-hour ferry to Patras, Greece (about 28 hours total travel). We made it to the port and booked the ferry with 1/2 an hour to spare. We booked a room and Claire demolished more of Ken Follet's sequel to Pillars of the Earth. The next morning we were back at it, a 4-hour train ride south along the west coast of the Peloponnese to Kalamata. We thought of staying, but the real town we wanted was just another 38km, ... read more
