Simpleton View to a Complex Problem
I know you have stated enough already, but I thought I would add my two cents worth into the debate. I think its amazing that people that stop over for a visit to our fine land can make the comment that we have failed to accomadate the Aborigines. Besides the fact that the POMS were the culprits who envaded their land and killed and enslaved them in the first place a lot has / and is being done to unite the people. It is far too complex an issue for someone to make judgement on in the shot time you travelled here. On another note, your Laos write up was a fantastic trip down memory lane for me. Thankyou.

A travelling friend of mine was browsing this database and found your much self-plugged log - amusing, indeed... How was London eh? Now that I've gotten here you should divulge some info for exchange's sake, or perhaps travel in early '07. Hope all's well :).

Are you a natural climber?
Hello, I am planning a trip to Bolivia and I was planning on doing a tour of the salt plains, however reading about your few day treck through the mountains of Ice ebfore hand I am inspired to do the same. Are you a natural ice climber with lots of experience, or can anyone join a tour and be involved? Cheers, Alice

Hey Keli, 3 words for you.. "tongue", "in", and "cheek". (and actually, they werent my comments) and when I said I liked the idea - I liked the sheer absurdity of it and the epic scale of this so-called conspiracy.. now I'm going to write this big so you understand it: I WAS NOT AGREEING WITH THE ZIONIST PLOT IDEA... sometimes you just gotta laugh at the ridiculousness of some people.. and right now, that includes you.

Maybe before you start going on about the stolen generation etc, you should remember who was responsible for the taking over the Aborignals land in the first place.

Lake Maninjau
Sumatra is the best, isn´it? I love it! I spent a quite long time at lake maninjau at Lilly´s and it was the best time I had in Sumatra. Also Lake Tabo was great. I was in the same guesthouse like you, run by the german lady. And the food was great in this restaurant! nice to read your blog. Franziska from Germany

the use of the word 'abo'
I'm a brit as well. I totally agree with you that aborigines have more important things to deal with such as basic rights. But these 'basic rights' have to start from small things. Aborigines find the word offensive so we should respect them and not use that term.

Author's Comment
Dont quite understand your comment re: 1997 prices Ollie. if you went there in 97 and found it cheap, you'll have a nasty surprise next time. I am, of course talking about the more developed South East corner of Brazil, and I gather things are far cheaper in the North of the country - but an A/C, en-suite hotel room in central Rio for $10 US?? good luck. Inflation's a killer, dont forget! And let me put things in context - I was comparing Brazil to it's neighbours, not to Switzerland!
