hi all next stop home... we have had a great few days in ho chi minh city more commonly known as saigon to the locals. apparently there is something like 6 million motor bikes here and we reckon we have seen 5,999,999. the main thing to do here is shop hotels resturants and shops fill the streets of district one (the tourist area of saigon) and lots of street sellers selling everything under the sun. we went to the war remnants museum it is horrifying seeing some of the things the amercans did to the vietnamese during the vietnam war.. Hi all; Greetings from beautiful Mui Ne! Sorry it's been awhile since posts but, between dodgy internet connections and just being plain busy, haven't had a chance. Hi all, Just a quick entry and don't have any new photos as yet. We left Hoi An last night on a sleeper bus and arrived in Nha Trang this morning. Usually this is Vietnam's premier beach spot, but unfortunately they copped more of the typhoon, so it's pretty rough and muddy and lots of clean up happening..... don't know how long we'll stay here. Much to everyone's regret I didn't get to do a cooking course, as Tom was a bit crook in Hoi An and wasn't up to sitting and watching me for a few hours. Anyway, will grab [View Full Entry]

Hi again, Thought I would do a post again as Tom is getting a facebook fix. We finally managed to find a cafe with a good internet connection (about 35 cents/hour). We decided to head straight for Hoi An which meant missing a few things on our proposed itinerary, but all the little stops get expensive. There's quite a bit to do here and so far we love it. Hi everyone, time for a decent entry finally. We arrived in Hanoi on Saturday morning, what an amazing place - I love it. We stayed in an area called the old quarter which is just a labyrinth of streets, people, motorbikes and cyclos - quite the culture shock for Tom. You can see the French influence in the architecture. Apparently next year is the biggest year for Hanoi, 1000 years old on the 10/10/2010. We'll spend another day there on the way back from Sapa as we only had our first day there really. I am still battling this chest infection [View Full Entry]

hi everyone this morning we finally arrived in hanoi (our fourth flight) it is a crazy place with lots of shops for every thing you can possibly think of...the area where we are staying in is about 1000 years old. there must be more motorbikes here than there is of any other source of transport. it is a real mission to cross the street with lots of motor bikes, taxis, buses, cyclos and trucks. tomorrow we are heading off to halong bay to stay on a chinese junk boat. mum is looking forward to that. we will be staying 2 nights [View Full Entry]
