well, i've arrived! got to the hotel a little after 8.30pm...and after a brief altercation with the bidet and my face (yes i just had to look over the bowl and press the shiny button...) i settled in nicely to my hotel...and by settled in i mean i my stuff was strewn all over the floor, bed, table... after which i had a nice hot ofuro. thats bath, i just love the japanese word for it way better... i decided, despite overly optimistic planning while on the plane, that i was way too tired/overwhelmed/dishevelled to venture out into the bustling street below (great view from my window) so i ordered room service - tempura udon. my WORD it was delicious. i was starving while waiting for it so ate some 'pocket tin' (it really is a ... read more

so i lied..... im writing again! well the rest of the japan trip is booked and paid for as of yesterday yippeeee! arrive on the 1st of september, and head straight to shibuya (where lost in translation was filmed hehe) for 2 nights, then jump on the bullet train for an overnight tour around kyoto and nara...then back to shibuya for my birthday! after a few more nights in shibuya, will be heading to shinjuku for the final week....then fly home on the 15th!! so thats the general itinerary so far...now we play the waiting game..................!!! well this is my first (and somewhat premature) entry, which will essentially be about my long awaited and slightly daunting solo trip to the land of the rising sun (and underwear vending machine). flights are booked as of yesterday. awesome. locked in larry. no turning back now... ! the 2 month (8 week sounds so much shorter) count down is on... i fly out on the 1st of september... all by myself.... i can see myself spending the first 3 days curled into the foetal position in the middle of my hotel room... or worse.... foetaled, rocking slowly back and forth in the middle of shibuya crossing... but with a little GUSTO and determination i think i can make it a bit of awrite mate NOTE TO SOFIA COPOLLA- SOLO FEMALE TRAVELLING IN JAPAN BETTER BE ... read more
