Saroeun - From: Siem Reap...
I'd suggest contacting Saroeun (pronounced Saw Ruin). He's a great guide. His e-mail is sinsaroeun@hotmail.com or phone # (855) 12-950-232. Also, it's probably better to e-mail me rather than post a comment in the future if you need further info. Thanks.

Are you really??? - From: The Bug Show
Are you really near Ulm? George and I lived in Goppingen - 1967-68. Goppingen is just north of Ulm - about 30 minutes south of Stuttgart. Home sweet home during those Army days. Can't wait to hear more.

German public transportation - From: The Bug Show
They don't take your ticket in most European countries. It's sort of an 'honor system'. However, if you get caught without a ticket, the fine is very steep. So, having your ticket with you if vital if you don't want to pay a lot more.

Mathias from germany
- From: The Bug Show
Well the public transport ticket thing works like that in germany: you buy (a ticket) (the best way for you would be to buy a day ticket, should be far less than 10 euro per day in hannover), then you just enter the strassenbahn or bus. ther usually is noone who countrolls you. at least not in the strassenbahn. the bus triver might be if you enter the front door of the bus. But there are controllers, who irregularly countrol the tickets of each passanger. But here in the city of kassel where i live i havent seen a controller who controlled me for the last year. and i nearly use public transport every day. That means i could have saved the money for the ticket. But if you are getting catched without having a ticket you have to pay around 40 euro. but what what is worse: you are getting charged with a case of fraud. hope you understood what i tried to tell you.

Lipe to Langkawi - From: 2 ferries, a taxi, a truck, and a longtail boat later...
Just reading your about your travel problems, like you I travelled from Kuah, Langkawi to Lipe via the Thai mainland, however I got stuck overnight at Pak Bara. There is a ferry 4 times a week from Lipe Direct to Langkawi and back (1000b each, 1 way) The ferry is operated by Tigerline and leaves from one of the resorts on Sunrise Beach and arrives at the harbour near Pantai Kok on Langkawi

- From: $20 to enter Cambodia? I'm not sure I have it.
i think its not because of BOA that your ATM card didnt work in Malaysia, instead it has to do with the new malaysian banking system that uses a "chip" not a magnetic strip. does your ATM card have a chip or magnetic strip? mine also didnt work in malaysia due to this change but it had worked on previous trips.

just to tell - From: Where do I find an ear doctor?
when you go to the international hospital ask for a doctor, dont ask for a ear doctor, the problem you had I had also some time ago. in this hospital there are always between 5 - 10 ++ doctors on site and every one of them can handle this, there is a different system here. There are a few more hospitals in phuket town but anyway you made the right choice. If you need some travel stuff go to the south services travel just beside the pearl hotel. they are working very good and ..very important.. they dont cheat !! because usually when a "farang" comes in by the door smiling and prices go up exponentially. if you want to have a beach for your own go to karon beach just south of patong beach, you will see a amazing difference within such a short distance, actually there are dozens of other beaches towards north and as further north you get the whiter the sand on the beach gets. if you like more have a look at www.thailandsouthern.com. beside of normal info you find a lot of photos and videos.

nice... - From: Where do I find an ear doctor?
dude, the thavorn! i stayed there 4 years ago on my second trip to thailand (on my first trip to koh phi phi). fun place... lots of character, eh? and by that i mean i remember the lobby being darkly lit and having a ton of wood molding / lots of thai paraphernalia hanging up everwhere. wonder if it's still like that. -- so, last day for me here before i head out to BKK tomorrow. (always fun to sit here and try to pack for a month...) keep equalizing that ear!
