keenen Family Blog: A school fundraiser turned out to be one of our greatest days yet. The Dragon Boat racing commenced at 10:00am and continued on until about 5:00. We had unbelievable weather and our racing times were pretty good as well. The kids are back to school . CAK is in year 2 now and JAK has joined him at his school in the reception class. She loves it. Especially the uniform. JAK is about to begin ballet again for her second year and CAK is doing well on his U-7 rugby squad. The kids are still doing well, but [View Full Entry]

Keenen Family Blog: hooked? yes, CK got to dress up as a hero to school and he chose Michael Phelps. Its crazy, but every kid in his school knows who MP is. I never realized how much influence our athletes have on other countries. On the same day that Phelps went to school, JAK had her first day of school and I have never seen her so excited. I think she liked the uniform the best. She is really doing well in school. Its nice to have CAK near by in case she falls (she did the other day) We hope [View Full Entry]

Keenen Family Blog: Just a random day for the Keenen Family. Not much to report, but a small day out at teacup island. Not very tropical, its merely a lake with a pub on an island in the middle. Not to discredit it too much, it is the location of the guiness book of world's record holding "the most teapots in one place" award. We took a drive on a domesday bridge. The Domesday book was the first major census in the British Isles, and was more comprehensive than current census's, as properties such as farms, mills, bakeries and other industry [View Full Entry]

Keenen Family Blog goes camping: I have learned a very valuable lesson that most Brits have already found out. If you are going on holiday (vacation) don’t do it on the island. Go to Spain, France, anywhere but here. The weather is about the least predictable thing I have ever seen. I don’t know how people plan anything in this country. The Mrs, with kids in tow, decided to go camping without me Wed-Friday and then I would meet them up after work on Friday. I had this vision of camping like when I was a kid. Flowing creeks full of [View Full Entry]

Keenen Family Blog: Apparently the Marquess of Bath is an old English eccentric who still lives in his house that is open for tours. He has 900 acres around his grounds with an additional 8000 acres of woods. There is a safari that you can drive through and see the animals. I was hesitant to go into the monkey site, but after we did I couldnt wait to go again. Look at the videos and you will see how much fun it is. The craziest moment was the rhino charging our car. I didnt get the intense part on video [View Full Entry]

The Keenen Family Blog: We have discovered Cricket. What a way to spend a Sunday. I think we are finally figuring out the rules. It was difficult because it seemed like in the middle of a game someone would just cheer and they would all start hugging and the game would be over. Apparently that is exactly what it is....an over. In this tournament each team was allowed 8 overs or 8 bowled (pitched) strikes. They could throw as many pitches (bowls) as possible but at least eight of them had to be in the strike zone or whatever they call [View Full Entry]

Battle Abbey 1066
Battle Abbey 1066
A day with the Keenen's and their blog
The Keenen Family Blog: Wewent to battle and we all came back alive. As you all may know, my stories tend to get mixed up,the facts are not always correct and I am too lazy to busy to look things up. Here goes my interpretation of Battle. This is a famous war site where William the Conqueror won the Englaish crwon. Allegedly it was promised to him but never delivered so he had to duke it out. This site is from 1066. I just found these photos on my camera so the memories are not fresh, so I will have to [View Full Entry]

Keenen Family Blog: This was an amazing experience. Often called the Vatican of England, Canterbury lived up to the billing. The history here is astonishing. To be able to stand where Thomas Beckett was killed by King Henry's men or to view where Chaucer's Dark Prince's tomb is was really cool. In contrast to the cathedral and the nearby St Augustine’s chapel, which date back to 500 BC, the town of Canterbury is new, hip and fun. It has all of the latest and greatest shopping, pubs and restaurants. The pictures of the Cathedral are priceless. I wish I would have [View Full Entry]

Keenen Family Blog: This was a strange day for the Keenen's. It started out as a family fun day to ride on a vintage train and ended up as a spectacular day in a time warp. We went to the Bluebell Railway station to ride a train between three stations. Everyone, but me and the Mrs., were dressed up and it was very cool. I actually felt what it was like in wartime of the 40's. There was a spitfire flying show, old men dressed up like soldiers and more. The coolest part was the ride in the Duck. The Duck [View Full Entry]
