Mooooose!!!
Mooooose!!!
This sign is quite near the moose safari park (yep).
It is 600 kms from Helsingborg to Stockholm. It took about 5½ hours to get there, we had perfect weather, and there are some really beautiful things to see on the way there. The half-way point is the ruins of a country house built in the 1645, but left to decay after a fire in 1708. It sits on the edge of the super-enormous Lake Vättern. The highway goes along the edge of the lake for a few kilometres, and it's extremely hard to take your eyes off it! Driving is extremely easy, it's two lanes each way at 110km/h nearly [View Full Entry]

This place is made to be washed down using a hose at the end of the day. My water-wise sensitivity was in shock.
Marcus made a new menu for the restaurant, and the staff went in last sunday to have a look at it all. The restaurant isn't open on sundays, so I went and hung around as well. Obviously this isn't the full menu, but I can assure you the rest is great as well. [View Full Entry]

City Centre
Lovely. Lots of people but not at all crowded or noisy.
Copenhagen is the capital city of Denmark. It is expensive. Their language sounds even funnier than Swedish. I didn't try the ice-cream. I like this place, it's a big city without being too much. Ít didn't take us long to get there, a 15 minute walk from our place to the harbour, a 20 minute ferry crossing, then about 45 minute train ride from Helsingor (there should be a line through that o, but I can't figure out how to do it yet) to Copenhagen. The first morning we went for a sunrise walk - this was it around 8.15am. The lights on the horizon are Helsingor in Denmark, home to Kronoborg Castle, or Elsinore Castle from Hamlet.
Helsingborg has been around forever apparently. The castle in the middle of the city (kärnan) was built in the twelfth century. There are lots of beautiful buildings and statues and a harbour which has a great restaurant on a boat, we went last sunday for a fabulous smörgåsbord - herring, salmon, flatfish, very rare beef slices, everything you could ever possibly do with potato, cheeses, dark bread, rye crispbread, boiled eggs. yummo. wonderful! The pantry you see next to the wall on the right isn't insulated from the outside, so everything in there is kept very cool!
Love this place, so cosy and still roomy, quiet, gorgeous!! Don't quite know my way around yet, but i'm getting there! [View Full Entry]
