Field'o'daffodils
Field'o'daffodils
This was taken on my phone at night, so apologies for the unfantastic quality. I've discovered that I love daffodils.
So. Not many big super duper exciting things to report, but many little nice things have been happening. I'm still going to school, it's going very very well, I even went to the shop the other day to exchange something and I wasn't lost for words at all! Yeah, Marcus was there too, but only as moral support. Spring is most definately in full bloom, and Summer is already poking it's head in, today was 22 degrees, and we're expecting to reach 25 in the not too distant future. A huge number of people are already going around in singlets and [View Full Entry]

Looking at the pictures of the trees with snow reminded me of the coral at the Great Barrier Reef. That led me to think, 'hmmm. I should put some wedding/honeymoon pics on this too!' First of all, the wedding was great! We had so much fun, and I hope that everyone else did as well! Big thanks to EVERYONE who helped and came! kisses!! All the flowers were beautiful, it was very nice of mum and dad to offer their place for everyone to have coffee and cake at, and the room, food and drink at Sirromet was just amazing! Oh, [View Full Entry]

Big church in the city, directly across the street from where Marcus works. Look! Snow!
Just as we'd all given up on snow and started pulling the spring clothes out, winter decided to show it's icy face in this lovely little area of the world. So we've gone from the warmest january on record to the first white easter weekend! I don't know how to begin to describe the amazing weather we've been having this week! Monday daytime gave us a horizontal display of snowstorm, by night it had settled down to those pretty big fat snowflakes. Then since tuesday we've been having clear, brilliant blue skies through the day and snow at night. The forecast [View Full Entry]

The Beach

Scandinavian beach wear
Scandinavian beach wear
Hee hee. There was something quite fun about wearing a jacket, boots, scarf and gloves to the beach.
Following the spring theme, yesterday we went for a walk to the beach. You'd be surprised I'm sure! This is how the beach looks in winter/autumn, and I'm told in summer people come down every day to give the sand a raking (I know they do the same down the gold coast as well, but here it's to remove the seaweed, not the rubbish), and they also put big palm trees. (Swedes just love making things look good) Got to a top of 8 degrees that day, warm enough not to wrap up in a big jacket, but too cold to [View Full Entry]

Snow

hoorah!

Then came the biiig huge snow! Look out Marcus!!
This has been the warmest winter on record in Sweden! It snowed a day before we arrived in January, and again for a couple of days last week. Still, it's good enough for me! It started with a beautiful sunny morning. I went in to school, a few hours later as I was walking home it started to hail! Leetle teeny tiny raindrop-size hail. It was like walking in the rain without getting wet! That afternoon as we drove to the grocery store, it turned into little snowflakes! I was rather excited. Then even later that night, little snowflakes turned into [View Full Entry]

Early Spring

Probably some sort of crocus? They're really pretty. They grow everywhere and come in purple, yellow, white and a really dark purple.
This week the first signs of spring really started to make themselves known. We were walking one day and saw two rabbits, there are heaps of flowers around, and many many more just about to open. Some trees have tiny leaf buds growing on them, and there is just something different in the air. Over the weekend we were looking after Marcus' mum's dog when they went to Stockholm. We went for a walk through the huge Ramlösa park - very pretty. [View Full Entry]

The cruise

 Europe » Finland
Boat
Boat
boat boat boat.
Big boat. Really big boat. Loads of fun, even without going to the on-board casino. The first night we had the smörgåsbord - all the food and drink you can have in two hours... then there was karaoke (yes I did) ... then it was going for a dance. That was probably the funniest thing I'd ever seen. The swell must have been quite large, because everyone on the floor would suddenly do ten quick steps to the right, then ten to the left, five to the right, seven to the left... One time someone even fell on her butt (**blush [View Full Entry]

Helsinki

 Europe » Finland
I was in Helsinki 2½ years ago, and it hasn't changed. When we got there on sunday it was snowing a little, but after a couple of hours it warmed up (it might even have been plus degrees) and didn't snow again all day. We went for a long walk, and looked at huge buildings, and then walked and walked and walked until we could find an open coffee shop, quite interesting really. [View Full Entry]

Stockholm!!!

View of Gamla Stan
Old city of Stockholm. Complete with cobblestones, snow and pointy bits.
When we arrived on friday, it was minus something degrees and snowing!! After lunch on saturday, we went into the old city (gamla stan) and walked and looked and coffeed and walked and looked again. It was fantastic! A really really beautiful city. We went to the official palace, looked at where the people who vote on the nobel prize sit, looked at parliament, walked through the narrowest alley in the city, had coffee in what used to be dungeons (when you thought about it, it was kind of creepy, even though there was lots of chatting and it was warm [View Full Entry]

This sign is quite near the moose safari park (yep).
It is 600 kms from Helsingborg to Stockholm. It took about 5½ hours to get there, we had perfect weather, and there are some really beautiful things to see on the way there. The half-way point is the ruins of a country house built in the 1645, but left to decay after a fire in 1708. It sits on the edge of the super-enormous Lake Vättern. The highway goes along the edge of the lake for a few kilometres, and it's extremely hard to take your eyes off it! Driving is extremely easy, it's two lanes each way at 110km/h nearly [View Full Entry]
