Depart For India!
I'm a student of Microbiology and Biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan. I am addicted to both volunteerism and travel, so naturally I am elated when I can combine the two!
Last summer I volunteered at an HIV/AIDS hospice and orphanage in Chennai, Tamil Nadu (South India). This summer I am returning to South India on a medical placement for one month and then I will have some time to return to the hospice in Chennai to visit and volunteer again.

Good News and Bad News

I'm a Good-News-Firster. I am of the mind that it makes it a lot easier to take the bad if you already know the good. So to that end, I have finally received my placement for the month of July! I will be living and working at Devaaki Hospital which is based in Karaikudi, Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu (South India). It sounds like the hospital is privately funded, and it has several departments including Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Orthopaedices, and Urology, as well as general surgeries. I've got India on the mind. I probably should have been doing my physics homework this evening, and I'm not particularly looking forward to getting up and biking to class in a number of hours.
