Always trying to decide if I should pack that extra pair of shoes or not. About to embark on my first solo trip in a long time. I'm pretty sure fear and excitement feel the same (that's what I'm telling myself!). Managed to snag 5 weeks off work and heading to Malaysia, the Philis and Thailand for a combination of doing nothing, doing lots and learning to eat alone. susecotterill

Sitting at work and alternating between making frantic work-related lists and trip-related lists. Both seem to be a tad too long with 3 days until work's over for 5 weeks (yip!). However, I did get my International Drivers License today from the NRMA. Result! It looks like a throwback to the 1930s, ration-book style. With a suitable piece of cardboard, some sticky tape and a red stamp I could fashion myself up a perfectly good counterfeit version. However, since I'm not convinced the insurance would be super keen to cover me if I had a prang, I think the legit version is the way to roll. So - scootering/motor biking in Asia here I come!
