Well st. louis is technically in missouri as well as Illinois, anyhow... We had no luck finding work there and kept running into snags with people and police, plus I lost my I.D one drunkin night, so we decided it was time to go home. We start walking towards the most obvious eastern highway to hike when some dude stops and asks us where we are headed. We told him east and he told us to hop in he would give us a ride to a truck stop on the east side and explained that walking through east st. louis is suicide for a white person. JOhnny had told some of his friends that we were coming down so we had a place to crash.. it was all fun, best dumpster dive town ever... mountains of fresh packaged scores. Yet nooo work what so ever- this was bad. So after three days in carbondale we decided to pack up and start hitching north for St. Louis. After three hours of walking we got picked up by a dad and his daughter.. we hoped in the truck and they took us a good 20 miles, after walking for another two hours a cop stops us and runs a routine.. decides he likes us and gives us a ride to the town limits. Sitting in akron at a local coffee shop on a beautiful spring day I look behind me to a guy whom was drawing me, of course curiosity drew to question. If only I could remember his name, but I'll call him Johnny. So johnny was a color blind artist who was soon making his way to carbondale ill. a small little town he grew up in. My first Cali. trip was back in 2005. It didn't last too long though, after a few days of sitting around an L.A hostel, this young truck driver named Bill, whom was staying there as well, invited us to go with him him to Austin, TX. Austin, TX. After two days on the road we jumped out of Bill's truck to a blanket of dry overwhelming heat in the downtown of Austin, and then the mosquitoes attacked. Yup Texas is Known for it's annoying bugs and poisonous creatures. Austin is pretty much just a desert with a river running through it. California was not all it was said to be, of course I expected that since numerous other travelers warned me so. Jeff and I arrived in San Diego on sep. 10th and headed strait to the beach. We spent two weeks on O.B beach and partied with the locals. Jeffs cosent invited us to a party in ensanitas, well more like a cult gathering than a party and so we hitched up to hang out. In wrapes it turned out to be a whole bunch of rich people playing munk and tripping acid as we sat around listning to people explain why food was good for the body. May 2007 John and I return from St. Louis, our last travel together. Summer 2007 was one of the most dramatic summers of my life. I returned home to the horrible news that my travel friend, Whom allso lived in my home town Akron, OH., had died in a car crash. His roomy and good friend Robo, a true dead head whom still travels at the age of 41 and sports a long board, was as well a good friend of mine. I had only been back one day when Robo came rolling into the square looking an absalute wreck and asked for my support through his extreme grief. The Florida Keys, and Colorado Springs, Co. Travel Mate- John O'Boyle Six months on the road. This was my first travel, and a lot of other firsts as well. I was 18, full of ideals and nievity, after a year of looking for a way to begin my traveling dreams I met John and he invited me to go to Key West with him.
