Oh, what a miserable day. Rain, rain and more rain. Set off for N Lincolnshire but with ever deepening gloom diverted to Lincoln. However constant rain so little point in trying to take photos so just mooched around. Returned to campsite and did some washing - at least some clean clothes for the next week. Camp site is really attractive and has won conservation awards. Small lake in the middle home to various ducks and moorhens. Various species of birds including owls hooting at night. Forecast is better for tomorrow so have planned a sixty mile round trip on the bike. [View Full Entry]

Up early as usual, good breakfast, tent packed up and on my way by 730AM. Fairly grey skies with occasional showers. Drove along the estuary of the Nene which is attractively remote. Drove west through southern Lincolnshire (knwon as Kesteven)- Sunday … so not a good day for visiting churches. Took various landscape photos and visited a number of nature reserves. Eventually met up with my old friend the A1 - cannot say that that road has improved. That took me to Woolsthorpe Manor which is the birthplace of Isaac Newton. The building itself dates from the early seventeenth century - [View Full Entry]

Cycle Day Europe » United Kingdom » England » Norfolk
Hi Folks Slowly getting the hang of this blog business so hopefully will be more regular in future ! Today set off on cycle - needs to use more so as to save on petrol costs ! Set off early to take photos of Oxburgh Hall - 16th cent stately home. Arrived to find it covered in scaffolding - not pleased. Continued on through the countryside. Continued few miles to Cockley Cley where there is an attractive medieval church and the Iceni Village (Iceni as in Iron Age tribe). Grumbled about the £5 entrance fee. Really worth it. Site contains an [View Full Entry]

Well here we are ... 6AM and ready to roll !! Lovely fine morning - cool, but sunny and a delightful dawn chorus to send me on my way. Heading for a point just to the east of Ipswich and Woodbridge in south east Suffolk. Intend to explore Rendlesham and Tunstall forests today and then next day or so the rest of that part of the coast known as the 'sandlings'. Incidentally if you search Rendlesham in google you will find various refs to well doc UFO incident in 1980 !!!! [View Full Entry]
