Heading over to the Mediterranean. Traveling to Sicily to re-establish my Mafioso roots; Greece because, well, I'm a good guy and want to help their economy; Croatia so I can bring a little class and glamour to some of the (apparently) most beautiful beaches in the world; and Czech to see the sister at a conference, which I now most likely will not be allowed to attend. Gonna be a solid two months-wo/man up and mosey on over for some fun in the sun if you can.

So I just concluded a 17 hour ferry ride from Patras to Bari and am just waiting for my 9 hour ferry from Bari to Dubrovnik which departs this evening at 10pm. Since there is absolutely nothing to do in Bari, I thought that this would be the perfect time to update the ol' blogsky, as I have been neglecting it since we left Naples. Our first stop was in Corfu, and I was told by everyone who has been there lately to go to the Pink Palace. Full of debauchery and young travellers, we were guaranteed a good time. Apparently, however, this has been the quietest summer in years and so the bar and hostel in general was at about 25 percent capacity. Nonetheless, it was nice to relax, drink cheap booze and meet people ... read more

So I apologize to the mams for not updating this earlier but it has been difficult to internet for more than 15 minutes so I cant really put anything up. And I will also apologize for not using apostrophes but this is a European keyboard and I never remember where it is. Now that I am such a savvy traveler, I will offer up a little bit of advice to those less experienced than my two and a half week veteran. 1) Book hostels earlier than the day before if you are going alone, as the popular ones fill up and you are stuck in places that dont speak english. It is pretty awesome when you dont speak for a few days, but hearing a known language does brighten up ones day upon hearing it. 2) ... read more

So this is going to be quite short as I have just arrived in Rimini, and there is a beautiful beach awaiting my arrival. But i thought I should at least put something up so that you (maja) know that I am alive. Since landing in Paris, I have learned 5 things. 1) The Paris airport is terrible. 2) The Czech people believe that they are living in 1980s America. Acid wash jeans, cutoffs a la Tobias Funke run rampant and are especially popular on 45-50 year old men pushing strollers, and rattails-beaded braids (usually 1) and mullets are all the rave. I thought that I had left that amazing look back in Vancouver, but luckily it has followed me here. 3) The Czech people cannot speak nor understand English. They do however love listening to ... read more
