Disapponted much?
Hey I did that trek when I was 11 and enjoyed it other than some poison ivy on my hands while climbing back up the wrong side of the volcano. I was followed by around 8 other guys who slid down with me using our runners for fun! So we had to climb up again and trekked down the right way. I loved the vista of the lake in the crater! That wasnt the end of our adventure. On our way back to Tagaytay, we were met by onset of Typhoon Didang which brought about waves that nearly swallowed our banca. Seeing 3 to 4 metre drops while on a wave was terrifying ... Im glad we made it to shore safely!

Those bastards! They probably thought they could grease some official to allow it ... it may still happen and what a sad day that would be.

The Crater
That would be rust (iron oxide). These are beautiful pictures John. The white material is volcanic ash and it can flow very fast due to the amount of gas and steam that it contains immediately after eruption. Volcanic ash flows (also called pyroclastic flows) can move at speeds ranging from a few km per hour to more than 1000 km per hour as was reported from Mt St Helens. Nature and her laws are wonderful things to behold.
