Hi everyone, So this blog has been on standby for a while as I have been waiting for the internet to be restored to my neighborhood and many houses in Puebla. A story came on the news a few days ago, about how the motherboards for Mega-cable had been robbed. Mega-cable provides cable, internet and telephone service to almost every house in the area and consequently the Internet cafes in the neighborhood. So as you can imagine, almost everyone is without internet. Although Puebla is an extremely modern and developed city there are always things like this to remind you how [View Full Entry]

By night, the city looked amazing. They had just invested thousands of dollars in lighting for the downtown area...worth it.
Well Campers, thanks for waiting it out for this blog. I have finally left the State of Puebla on a weekend adventure. Last Sunday began the 7th annual Festival internacional de Cine de Morelia. I thought it would be a great opportunity to visit some other parts of Mexico. Fernanda and I started off on Thursday afternoon after our classes. We took a short bus ride to the toll booth leaving Puebla ,which cost roughly $1, and started looking for a ride. After literally 2 or 3 minutes asking we got a ride to Mexico DF with a nice middle aged [View Full Entry]

Hello Everyon! Well I know I have been lacking on my blogging lately. It could be for a few reasons, first of all the internet at my apartment is useable about %60 of the time and when it works it is usually slow and frustrating, or the because I have been a bit busy getting paperwork together and preparing classes. The most likely is that it is really a combination of the two. Usualy when I get on the internet here I come to check my email and send emails, and that being frustrating enough I usually stop at that. So, [View Full Entry]

Hey all, Welcome back after a short break. A lot has happened since my last entry, so here we go. I have been working 8 hours a week at the Instituto Boulanger. This is not enough to support me here still, but has been a good learning experience and provides a bit of money. The good news, is the Anglo is going to hire me. The bad news is we have to wait for my Visa to come, which takes 30 work days. Meaning I won't start work until around October 20th. The Anglo is a non-profit British language school that [View Full Entry]

Hello again, Sorry about the delay on this post, I have been a bit busy. Well after three weeks here I have landed one job at a high school. The job pay is pretty low and the hours are few, but it is a start. The classes are only 4 students each so I hope they can really improve their English with such small class sizes. I have also been in contact with a non-profit English language group called The Anglo. The school pays a good wage and is flexible with hours, aside from that they are also located about 3 [View Full Entry]

Hey Guys, So after almost two weeks I am starting to get into the swing of things. The internet in my apartment is spochy so I have to go down to the common area to use it. My room is clean but a bit boring with the empty white walls. From my windo I have a view of mountains volcanoes and a skyscrpaer that is part of a mall. The tower itself seems to be empty and more just for show rather than actual purpose. I can now get to the center and back easily and know my way around decently. [View Full Entry]

The overnight bus to Chicago before my flight on tuesday.
Hi Everyone, The travel blog is back! I just made it to Puebla and am started to get settled in. Thankfully my spanish is coming back very quickly. I made it after one bus to Chicago, a flight to Monterrey then to Mexico DF. In Mexico Fernanda came to get me at the airport and we then took a bus to Puebla where I found my new home. I have what is basically one room with bedroom and bath, and a wall dividing the two. It is very nice though. The city is pretty big and I am a bit intimidated [View Full Entry]

Hello All, I am on the road right now but have a bit of time and found an internet cafe, so I will give you a quick udpate. We left Concepcion and have been heading north for about a week now. We went direct to santiago by night bus and the following morning hitched a ride to valparaiso. We had a full day in valparaiso and i have to say i liked it, except it was pretty dirty. Cool architecture and city planning though. The next day we took off too La serena. We arrived super late and didnt have time [View Full Entry]

Hello again! wow it has been a very long time since I have written you guys. I have been pretty swamped here finishing my classes and saying good bye. I am in concepcion again after a 5 day long adventure to the south, Chiloe and Bariloche in argentina. The trip was great and my new tent has been serving me well. Chiloe reminded me alot of Ireland, wet cold, cloudy and green. Argentina was another story, Hot. Bariloche was really touristy which I didnt like too much, but they did have some great chocolate and meat. At this point my traveling [View Full Entry]

Hello again friends and fam! Everyone here is ecstatic for the Obama victory. I am sure things have been crazy there the past few weeks. I can tell you that from this part of the world there is just as much HOPE as we have in the US, if not more. There is a hope that there will fially be a change in the US international policies in regards to Latin America and the developing world in general. It was very interesting to see this election from out of the country. There is a lot of pottential for this presidency as [View Full Entry]
