Oh no... I couldn´t resist the temptation. I bought a pair of slippers-looking Ipanema sandals yestesday. I´ve been controlling, really. Saw so many nice slippers in Rio but I didn´t buy. But this one very nice and cheap, so, hee... Hmmm.... How am I going to squeeze this 5th pair of shoes in my backpack? ... read more

Iguazu Falls is divided between Brazil and Argentina, with 25% in Brazil and 75% in Argentina. Some argue that it´s better at the Brazilian side cos you can get the paranoma view of it while the Argentina side brings you closer to the falls. We did the Brazilian side yesterday and the Argentina side today. Conclusion. We definitely prefer the Argentina side. See the picture for yourself. Do we have to say more? ... read more

Finally got out of Rio. Took a long long journey from Rio de Janiero to Foz do Iguacu. On this 25 hrs journey, some thoughts abt the interesting habits of Brazilian ppl flashed through my mind. Here´s some to share (pictures to be accompanied later) 1. With Rio being renowned for its beautiful beaches, it is without doubt that we get to see ppl walking ard in swimwear. But in this city, they not only wear swimwear on the beach but also on the streets, on buses & subway, at street parades and even at places of interest like the statue of Christ The Redeemer!!!! But I must say these ppl really have got good bodies. 2, Even pregnant women wear a bikini top, showing off their big belly! Not bad for a way to save ... read more

Aaaahhhh.......... dunno whether we´re getting paranoid or wat? But we met with a little incident again today. We were walking along the familiar way to the subway station when a shabby looking black woman suddenly pounce onto OSM, trying to beg for money we guess. But in tt split second and us being very sensitive oredi, she hit her hand that was holding on to a bottle of vodka and the vodka was splashed all over her. Not knowing what to do, we screamed and ran, our faces turned white and limbs turned jelly. In fact, now that we think back, hmmm... dunno who scared who? Maybe all she wanted was only to beg... but too bad, she met with these paranoid asians who not only didn´t give her any money, but in turn broke her ... read more

OMG! They did it again!!!! Why us why us?!?! We were ready to board a bus (yes bus again) when 3 locals directed us to take the bus behind instead to get to the subway station. Thinking they were good samaritans, we took their advice and boarded the bus behind. OSM and I boarded first and CJ was sandwiched between those 3 fellows. We didn´t know why one of them took so long to buy the tix. It was actually one of them blocking the way, while the other one tried to use a pen to pry open the zip and the last person put his hand in. CJ screamed after she realised her bag was opened, though she had locked her bag. She shouted at the man whose hand was found coming out from the ... read more

Sob sob... My sunglasses was snatched! We were getting ready to board the bus when a teenage boy just snatched my sunglasses and ran off! I was stunned for a moment. Sob sob... my reliable Oakley! What am I going to do without it for the rest of the trip? The only consolation was that we were not hurt in the process. It´s only the 2nd day to my SA trip and something was stolen oredi. By the end of 4mths, will my 20kg bag be reduced to 10kg when I come back? Hmph.... ... read more

The Carnaval. The reason for us being here in Brazil. What impress me most is not the parade itself, but the passion and spontaneity of the people. The audience just danced and sashay to the music, fully immersing into the atmosphere. And the best part is the performers simply go home by subway with their costumes on. Can you imagine performers in Chingay going home on MRT with their make-up and costume on? Was really an interesting sight. And the parade itself? We were excited when the first group came. After that, we waited for 20 mins for the second group to appear. We were really sleepy during the long wait (we are accustommed to the 11hr time diff yet). When the third group finally arrived, we decided that we´ll go back hotel to sleep after ... read more

After 31 hours, we have finally arrived at Rio de Janeiro with much anxiety! Slept throughout the journey but still feeling very tired... Read so much abt the possible danger of getting robbed that upon arrival at the airport, we anxiously guided our bags with caution. So kua zhang to the extent tt OSM refused to let go of the trolley when the airport attendant attempted to help us to load our bags up the cab. It was quite a comical sight. Dunno what we doing tmr. Can´t think straight now. Hope we´ll be more alert after a good nite sleep! ... read more

I'm flying to South America in 5 DAYS time! But seriously, this fact hasn't really sank in yet. Maybe because I feel pretty unprepared despite having this plan for almost a year. Haven't settle my financial matters, haven't clear my office and worst, my room is in a mess with all the barang barang I brought home from office. Also maybe because I haven't accepted the fact (or simply refuse to accept the fact) that I'll be away from home for the next few months, away from the comfort of my bed, away from the people who dote and pamper me, away in a totally unfamiliar environment... And this is the first time I'm leaving for an "unknown land" with mininal planning, no idea where I'll be heading, what I'll be doing, where I'll be staying ... read more
