| 19th February 2008 Jane | Pottering round... - From: Escape to the mountains I wondered where the name came from for those mountains! Now, you get yourselves back to Hereford, and quick about it, or you'll miss the plunging temperatures, the thick frosts, the icy paths... but there are NO nasty insects around! See? Don't know what you're missing... or perhaps you do. Excuse me, I'll just go and put on another layer of fleeces, then I'll look at your pictures. |

| 2nd February 2008 skid skim | Whingeing Poms!!! - From: Flies, flies and more flies! Did we mention the flies? Not just Poms! Even the Aussies were having a fair old go. We have since found out that they use "Aerogard Tropical Strength" It also repels some flies. But I hasten to add, not all of the little critters! Another thing it's a lot cheaper than the british mozzie sprays and works better too.. |
| 2nd February 2008 Jane | where the first British subject died... - From: "Love it when a plan comes together" HAHAHAHAHAHA! Poor old Forby Sutherland was the answer to a clue in a crossword last week! Now, don't go: [rustling noises] I know I put them down somewhere [more rustling noises] [swearing noises] ... am trying to find other crossword clues you can trek round Australia and answer for me! I do hope, by the way, you are using sun tan high factor... it looks VERY hot! |
| 31st January 2008 Jane | Flies?? - From: Flies, flies and more flies! Did we mention the flies? Well, REALLY! You sound like whingeing poms!! Seriously, how do the locals cope with them? The flies, not the whingeing visitors... Just view them as currants and you'll be fine. The reasons for total lack of sympathy? We're in the teeth of yet another bluddy gale and torrential rain, and my feet are cold. I wonder if our flies go south for the Aussie summer?? [rhetorical] |
| 30th January 2008 Jane | Harry Potter and the Bonking Pigs - From: So I'm a laughing stock!!! Well, really: there's been more money made out of the former, at least legally... [trails off with puzzled expression and embarrassment] Lovely to see the updates coming through! Don't know HOW you want to wallow in all that heat when you can have frost and rain and short days. If you'd had travel spinach, that would have helped you tolerate all this heat, you know! Lovely to see you both looking so well and happy with all this rushing about. Is Australia REALLY that big, or is it like Herefordshire with a bit of Worcestershire tacked on? [just kidding] So where to after Sydney?? It's quite a cliffhanger, this... |
| 30th January 2008 Marg | Steps - From: Low flying banana skins!!! Well i got up there, thought you two were fitter than me, I was alright on the steps it was the first part i struggled with, But it was worth it in the end. hope it was for you. We have snow forecast for the end of the week, thought you'd like to know that. |
| 30th January 2008 skid skim | Did we tip? - From: Knocking shop coffee!!! Of cause not, the coffee was cold with lumps of ice floating around in it..... |
| 30th January 2008 skid skim | Ronnies tan! - From: G'day, You can't swim here mate!!! Don't tell Tracey, but he nicked some of her fake bake (ha ha). |
| 30th January 2008 skid skim | Keep out of the water! - From: G'day, You can't swim here mate!!! Yep staying well clear unless we see 20 other people in there. Then we'll paddle close to the shore. Steering clear of billabongs too, they say the fresh water crocs are fine - But who can tell the difference? Not us, that's for sure! |
| 30th January 2008 skid skim | What memories? - From: Low flying banana skins!!! You didn't tell us how many steps we had to climb at Kings Canyon DID YOU! Thanks Marg x |
| 30th January 2008 skid skim | Geckos - From: Low flying banana skins!!! We see them everywhere. And as long as they keep eating mozzies, they'll be our friends for life..... |

| 19th January 2008 Jane | Keep out of the water! - From: G'day, You can't swim here mate!!! Oooh, blinking 'eck: scary stuff! Perhaps you've got a gift like the horse whisperer. Maybe you're both croc-whisperers and didn't know it! Spinach is very good for providing shelter in hot weather: do let me know, as it is good for you, both inside and out. Drink plenty of fluids, and try not to look too tasty down on the beach. Don't want to attract the natives, now, not the saltwater ones, that is! You're missing floods here. Just thought I'd tell you that cheering news! Cheers, and enjoy the sun! Jane |
| 15th January 2008 Jane | Tempted only by the coffee, then?? - From: Knocking shop coffee!!! The question is, did you tip?? Lovely to see you both out and about in the DRY and WARM! You are definitely in the right place at the moment, what with the rain and cold and rain and cold and did I mention the rain? Cheers for now, Jane |

| 5th December 2007 skid skim | Mozzie bites - From: Another city and more sights...... Was doing ok, till you mentioned it - Now have two. The worst place so far for them was Surat Thani Station, had about 30 between us that night.... |

| 5th December 2007 Jane | As featured on the news! - From: The Kings birthday bash Gosh, you are our on-the-spot reporters, with all the pics! There was quite a bit of info in the news (no picture radio here, but on the radio, it was) about the king. Did you get any BIRTHDAY CAKE?? Or do you still want the travel spinach?? Enjoy Vietnam! |
| 4th December 2007 Jane | Bangkok? I'm not making any quips... - From: Another city and more sights...... Big, innit? Lovely pics! Hey, aren't you two getting any mozzy bites? You aren't touching up yer photos, are you? You both seem to gleam and look healthily brown... not much of that look in Eign Gate, I can confirm. Are you off to countryside soon, or more city-hitting? As you don't seem to want my travel spinach, perhaps you can sell some for me at the market, sigh. [tragic look] And am I alone in thinking the skytrain was in Seattle? Do *I* need a map? Cheers, Jane |
| 2nd December 2007 skid skim | The funny guy!!! - From: Kuala Lumpur Ok, I know he's not had a haircut in almost 4 months, but you should recognise your own brother. Ha ha |
| 2nd December 2007 skid skim | Warmth verus north winds? - From: Kuala Lumpur I'll choose warmth everytime. Sounds like you should be getting your thermals out of moth balls, glad I'm not there... And yes they have cars here. |
| 1st December 2007 Marg | Great Video - From: Kuala Lumpur Hi you two Great video, looks a bit like a concrete jungle though!!!!! and who was that funny man that kept waving a the camera!!!!!!!!!! Loving all the news. Marg |
| 1st December 2007 Jane | KL looks OK - From: Kuala Lumpur Well, it's the closest I could come to a witty comment, i.e. several miles away from an amusing one! Blimey. In my day [said the ancient one], it was all low-rise and rickshaws! So, do they have cars there now?? Are the rats fancy rats, or just common or garden or dustbin rats?? It do put a woman off her grub, dunnit? Sounds like you haven't seen the film, 'Ratatouille,' then?? I think rats get such a bad press, ...except for the filthy, diseased vermin that live in the hedge up by Whitecross Roundabout, death to them all! Such is my NIMBY attitude. So, where to next? Are you heading for countryside and local product after bright lights and, er, rats? You are missing shopping madness here, not from me, though. Don't know how you cope with all that warmth: it's a delightful north wind now, with hurricane-strength gusts due later tonight, and lots of very cold, very wet rain. This is as good as it gets, she said glumly... AND the days are very short... But there is still travel spinach!! Just let me know, etc, ... quantity and address, that's all I need. Cheers Jane |
| 28th November 2007 skid skim | Missing CDs - From: Whoops we missed out Maylasia! Sorry, only one's I have are filled with photos ready to send back. Hope you find them soon. Have been trying the local produce and we love dragon fruit which is delicious. You'll be glad to hear that we are now wearing long sleeves again as it's got a bit colder. |
| 28th November 2007 skid skim | Enjoying the sun. - From: The great rush to relaxation.... Yes, we enjoyed the week of relaxation in the sun. Gave us both time to unwind and see things in prespective. Seen a few christmas shops on our way around, but nothing like the mania back home. Love to all at oxfam, don't work too hard x |
| 28th November 2007 Jane | Don't forget to try the local produce! - From: Whoops we missed out Maylasia! As you are rejecting my travel spinach everywhere, may I suggest you try the local dried bananas? Yummy, chewy and I'm not on commission. Oh, while you're there, do you have a couple of CD's with you? It's just that we're all searching high and low here, and there's a few people's details on them. You'll know it if you have them: 25 million on there, so no room for backup photos. Please look: we all have. Malaysia should be lovely! Hope you enjoy it. |
| 26th November 2007 Jane | But you're missing snow, fog, rain and cloud! - From: The great rush to relaxation.... Well, I'm SHOCKED at the pair of you, messing around with rude rocks... Glad to see you are pretending to enjoy being in a warm, beautiful place! I can send you some frosted spinach if you still want travel spinach... cheers for now! Jane (oooh nooo, the Christmas rush at Oxfam has started!) |
| 16th November 2007 skid skim | Nice to be back - From: Patong Beach Going to take some catching up now, as we have been to a few places since Patong Beach. Having to pay for internet again, so bare with us. Love Ron & Avril |
| 16th November 2007 skid skim | Can't make Thursday - From: Patong Beach Sorry, wasn't able to make it in to help. Was on an overnight train at the time. Christmas is happening here as well, but there doesn't appear to be a rush anywhere. It's the heat that's making us slow. Love to all x |

| 14th November 2007 Jane | So it DOES rain abroad! - From: Patong Beach I was getting worried that you'd developed your own micro-climate, so am more than gratified you get rain like what we do, but much warmer. Lovely to see leaves on trees there: you're missing autumn, you know. Greetings to you from Oxfam! The Christmas rush is starting, so let that sit on your conscience. No, we're fine, no, really we are... (Bridget and I are in again today, we worked so well together yesterday, and people are off sick, can you do Thursday, Avril??) |

Don't know about winter, but it's certainly the rainy season here - did I say rainy, more like monsoon down pours. x |
| 26th October 2007 Jane | Thailand in winter! - From: Good bye Singapore, Hello Thailand Ho ho ho! Am I wrong or is Skid looking slightly, erm, 'tense' in the company of those lovely, erm, 'ladies'? He IS the one with no lippy on, isn't he? And looks terribly formal... It all looks lovely and warm, especially the electricity supply. Bet it wasn't like that in Singapore. Nice room, too! No trouble with mozzies, are there? Winter mozzies, that is. Are you going native with the Thai food? I do believe it's got some chili in it, and fermented fish sauce for authenticity. If youre taste buds have been shot off already, you'll be fine! Cheers for now, let me know where you want the winter spinach sent! Jane |

| 25th October 2007 Jane | Coo er! - From: All at sea in Sentosa What a fun time! I remember (yawwwn, they all say) when it was called Blackang Mati. We used to go there for picnics in the 1960's when it was jungle and gun emplacements against the Japanese invaders (our parents knew how to give us a good time!!), AND we found a rifle AND a scorpion. Distortion of truth:- The scorpion found us. It walked out of the rotting gun barrel on the kitchen floor hours later in our flat in Singapore. Mum didn't half scream. I still reckon it would have made a wonderful pet. Sigh. You're missing autumn spinach here, I hope you realise! Do let me know where to send it... cheers for now, Jane |

Don't use your left hand for chopsticks: I did when I was there 100 years ago, and was corrected during a meal several times, by the old lady serving the food - it meant I was a whore! [for those reading this, NO I WAS N O T.... never had to pay for it in me life...] Now, ahem, [waits for face to stop glowing] don't drink the water, don't eat the food, and keep yer hands on yer wallets!
