In theory it was possible but I began to have second thoughts when even my codirector Guesno Mardy who generally thinks anything is possible was a little hesitant. He had seen the road I had not. Driving through Port au Prince for the first time is http://www.travelblog.org/Central-America-Caribbean/Haiti/Belle-Anse/blog-346311.html Arriving in Haiti Nov 4th 2008 We arrived in Port au Prince on the 4th around 1230. Getting off the plane into the humid heat and walking across the tarmac several team members were delighted by the temperature which was a really good sign for the rest of the trip. The Haitian band that sits in the entrance to the airport for the passengers played away as we lined up at the passport check point. We all got through without a h http://www.travelblog.org/Central-America-Caribbean/Haiti/Port-au-Prince/blog-345673.html Back home Hello We are all back home now. The last 4 of us made it back from Haiti late last night. The travel blog was a great idea but it turned out our hotel in Port au Prince did not have it's internet up an running Other than a few hours every morning we were on the road and working hard everyday so had no time to look for other online options. Being unplugged was particularly hard on one of our http://www.travelblog.org/Central-America-Caribbean/Haiti/Belle-Anse/blog-345105.html The hotel Here are few quick notes and pics of us tonight we are staying at the embassy suites hotel So far we jammed up an elevator with our giant pile of duffle bags we weren't sure if it was the weight or size...... then we did some sort of Laurel and Hardy put a bag or person out and then leave it on one floor going back down and then up. Just a few minutes ago the fire alarms were going off and t http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Florida/Miami/blog-341478.html the plan The planStill on the plane so I will keep going 9786As I wrote before bringing a medical team to Belle Anse has been our goal since we first created Sionfonds. So it has been 4 years of planning. By planning I mean first we start talking about it then we set a date then we asked for help from many many great people who shared their knowledge and helped find resources and gathered funds http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Florida/Miami/blog-341474.html On the air plane Hi We are on our way Thank you for all the well wishes on the blogAnd thanks to everyone who came to our bake sale in Canyon yesterday. It was a huge successWe are on the plane now to Miami where we will stay overnight and leave for Haiti in the morning. I thought this would be a good time to write more about our trip and our team. I am not using the lsquoroyalrsquo we. There are 6 of http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Florida/Miami/blog-341471.html 2 days to go The day after tomorrow we leave. Still plenty to do........and I decided to have a last minute bake sale to raise what ever funds we can. I know it sounds a little silly a big medical trip 10 or so boxes of medicines 200 ponds of supplies lots of other important donations and I am wanting to sell cookies to get every last bit of funds I can to take to Haiti. But that is how Sionfonds has grown. http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/California/Oakland/blog-340565.html Belle Anse Hi Belle Anse is the main site of the medical trip and where we will be creating a clinic.
