What an Adventure! Simon, once again I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your adventures. I would love to go there - I think you should have a business on the side, escorting middle-aged teachers to these amazing places!
Hey Prue
Thanks, yeah was an awesome little adventure. Had today off to have our ultrasound - all looking good with bubbie. Back tomorrow so see you then. Thanks again...
National Geographic Hi Simon, Once again we have lived your holiday through your wonderful eyes. You should consider a career change or at least supplement your income by writing travel articles. Your students are very lucky indeed to have a teacher with such descriptive skills. Take care and we expect to see that little one in a backpack having adventures with you. Love to Jane. Sonia and Warren
What an amazing article! WOW - you make this trip seem heavenly! What a great way to spread the amazing news about such an interesting location. Do you ever do research or do you take the time to figure out where to go for the best experience? My source has been: http://www.africa.com/tanzania/ because the site seems to be very knowledgeable.
Hey there
Thanks very much for the nice words - indeed it was a wonderful trip and one I'll never forget. Yeah, we always do loads of research before we go and have found it always makes the trip so much better.
Many thanks again and happy travels...
Itinerary Hi there,
I'm planning a trip to Iran and found your blog interesting and helpful. How long did you guys travel in Iran for? Planning a 2 week trip and would love to hear from you.
Prema
Hey there
We were there for a month, about five years ago. It really is an absolutely wonderful place to travel - amazing sites, incredibly friendly people. Truly one of my favourite places that I've travelled to.
During that month, we went from Tehran to Esfahan, Shiraz, Persepolis, Yazd, Zanjan, Qazvin and Kashan. Was really easy and very cheap to get around by bus or train.
Please feel free to email me any questions that you might have, would be more than happy to help out if I can.
Cheers
Simon
snorkel trip Hi!
In Dumaguete, did you stay at Harolds?
I didn't know that you could go on a snorkeling trip (to Oslob) where is possible to see whale sharks?
Because I thought of flying to Cebu and then bus down to Oslob and after that to DMG... Thinking what is better..
Btw. Great blog and infos on PI :)
You light up my life !!! Oh Simon, It is like reading a good book..... I immerse myself in your words and feel as though I am there travelling with you. It is like being in a bygone era as I find so many travel articles these days are superficial. You do look like the King of Kandy! Say "hi" to Jane and keep enjoying your travels. You are creating wonderful memories. Stay safe. Love Sonia and Warren
Thank you Once again we enjoyed every word of your blog. We have a Ganesh just inside our front door! I have been having meditations at our house while our main group is in holiday recess and I also provide morning tea for a gold coin donation. We raised enough to sponsor an orphaned baby elephant so it can be retrained to go back into the wild in Africa. Thank you for bringing India to us. You should be a travel writer Simon plus a guide!

Hey there,
Thanks for the lovely words yet again. Indeed, it is a wonderful country. Currently sitting among the tea plantations and cascading waterfalls of Ella, high in the Sri Lankan hills. Absolutely gorgeous and yet again, beautiful people. Hope to have next instalment up soon.
Thanks again for the lovely words and take care...
Pink English Pom! Hey Simon,
Loving the beautiful lyrical writing, you have painted a clear picture in my mind of your adventures, the palaces and accommodation sounds incredible, and glad to hear your arm was nothing too serious!
I only have one issue... The poms you write about being reddish on the beaches is just not true! I have avoided getting burnt so far and am very proud of myself!!! ;)
Keep up the excellent entertaining blogs and safe travels x x
Hey Harry! Cheers for that and I'll duly note you as the exception to the rule! Hope all is going well - see its quite warm back home. Off to Sri Lanka now (minus family) and some more adventures...speak soon.
Thank you Hi Simon, Once again I am thoroughly enjoying reading about your travels. You make me feel as though I am there! I am very envious as I so love the contrast that is India and you describe that so well. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your familymoon!
that was nice what you did. Hard to lose your money in the province.. the business of reporting the loss to credit card companies etc will be trying! but, at least they had three months of vacation already...
Loved every second! Simon, Brad forwarded your blogs and we have thoroughly enjoyed every moment and every word of your travels. You are truly a modern day explorer. Our advice is to travel when you are young. We wish we had done so as our bodies take longer to recover and we would so like to have some of the adventures you do, but know we can't. Blessings and love
Hey Sonia and Warren - many thanks for the lovely words. Needless to say, I've had a wonderful time here in the Philippines. Sitting at the airport now, pondering the 20 odd hours it's going to take to get home. Ho hum. Hope everything is well with you - did you make it to Cambodia after all?
Cheers
Simon
Should have known... That you have been to Boracay. I was there back in the early 90s but did manage to go back a couple more times after, the last time was two years ago.
Gone is the lone dirty road which has been replaced by concrete with a lot of tricycles/tuk-tuks, with a mini outdoor mall in center of the island, and a few beach bars that goes on until early in the morning (not that I've been to one). And a grotto with the Virgin is now part of Willy's Rock.
But fret not, Boracay still, to me at least, maintains a good island feel. The beach is still clean compared to Kuta or Seminyak; and less crowded than Koh Phi Phi, not as hectic has Phuket or crazy as Koh Phangan.
Either way, great to see someone enjoying Phils.
Seen a video and read an article on The Guardian about a town in Cebu called Oslob where whale sharks have become somewhat 'domesticated' or 'friendly' to humans. Sounds bizarre and sad, but at least snorkeling with them would be much easier. There's a couple of videos on YouTube...
Hey fella - cheers mate - having an absolute ball as you may have gathered. Just got back from another day of beautiful snorkelling with amazing corals and a few graceful turtles. Sweet. And how was your trip to Vietnam? Hope ya had a great one. And I guess I'll be seeing you in a weeks time. Shit. Better get used to wearing shoes again I suppose. See ya then mate.
The question is... Did you make your way to Boracay island to recover? And did you get your backpack?
Think you should submit an article to Lonely Planet magazine.
Hey Vince - yeah the backpack arrived safe and sound the next day. Didn't head to Boracay as the last time I was there was 1986 when it housed three small places to stay and didn't have electricity. Didn't want to ruin the memories. And I used to work for LP a few years ago.
Thanks again for the nice comments.
Cheers
