So the English weather has decided to visit...and not just Sydney, ALL of Australia. By 6pm yesterday Sydney had received 90 millimetres of rain since Friday, nearly all of its 116-millimetre February average. Avalon received 136 millimetres since 9am on Sunday; 60 millimetres of that fell within an hour. It has caused havoc, roads are flooded, traffic diverted and although everyone is happy that they are finally getting rain it has bought everyone's moods down, including mine. It has really made me realise how much I have been able to do over here, all of which is outdoors! We have had [View Full Entry]

Gladiators

Music Festival at Moore Park The Cat Empire, Ash Grunwald, Blue King Brown, Beautiful Girls...the sun was out and the ground vibrating. This was my second time whilst in Australia seeing The Cat Empire in concert. Kate was a diamond and surprised us with tickets :-) I couldn't wait, I love Felix the main singer, sexy beast! I convinced Alysha to come along, I know its not her usual style of 60's shiite ha! but think she felt the love and even got her jumping around with the crowd. Although they didn't play my favourite...the Car Song, Alysha found her favourite...The [View Full Entry]

Quad Biking Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Cairns » Cairns City
Quad biking....The last thing on Alysha and I's To-Do list in Cairns. We had survived White water rafting, Diving, Sky Diving, A crocodile infested river, horse riding... We all know that Alysha is far happier than I behind the wheel, but this did not stop me...What's the worst that can happen, right?! We started off well, completing the obstacle course without flying into any tyres...then they took us into the bush on a dirt track, where we had to manoeuvre through pools of water, down hills, around trees and cattle! We were all filthy when we stopped for a water brake. [View Full Entry]

Horse Riding Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Cairns » Cairns City
Our first time on a horse! I was far more nervous about getting on top of a horse than I was about sky diving! We received no training or safety talk before a crate was dropped before our feet besides a horse and were told to "Jump on". Oh Ok, just like that...easy...well my horse Robbie was the smallest of the bunch..I know how he feels! :-( It turned out that Robbie deffinately had a case of short-arse syndrome, as he wanted all the attention and was the only one to playup. Whipping his tail at me, turning around and [View Full Entry]

Sky Diving Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Cairns » Cairns City
SKY DIVING!!!!!!!! I can't believe we did it! I have been wanting to do this for a long time but when Missy rang from Cairns whilst I was at a work do, I freaked! We had been in the beer garden all afternoon so i'm blaming the booze, but I was running round like a headless chicken..shouting "I'M ACTUALLY DOING A SKYDIVE!AHHHHHH!" Although it was on our list I didn't think the others would be up for it...Missy just went ahead and booked it! There was no turning back. Our instruction and safety training consisted of 1) Step into this harness [View Full Entry]

Our adventure began Our first day in Cairns and we jump straight into the deep end...literally! The RnR White Water Rafting Team got us kitted up and before we knew it we were floating down what seemed to be a peaceful stream. Our raft consisted of two weedy blokes from Sydney, Amanda, Melissa, Alysha and I plus two guides. One of which was a trainee and had full control. It was only her 2nd time on the river but she seemed nice enough...until a huge fat boulder appeared in front of our faces! We had not heard her say in her [View Full Entry]

Scuba Diving the Great Barrier reef Alysha's first dive.... My First dive was amazing. Melissa had just chickened out so it was just the guide, myself and some other chick. As we went down I held onto one of his arms, adjusting the pressure in my ears as necessary. The water was so calm, all I could hear was my breathing. The sight was astonishing, I have never seen anything like it. It's an entire new world down there, so much life, and its so beautiful, calm. I thought I was dreaming, my mind was blank and I felt so free. [View Full Entry]

Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb Alysha, Amanda, Missy and I booked up the Twilight Bridge Climb. This was of course the most popular and therefore the most expensive choice so I had high hopes. It was amazing! Getting changed we looked like astronauts in one piece grey overalls. Attached to us like a ball and chain a mechanism used for staying attached to the line incase we decide to go for a swim! Early evening and the sun was glistening on the Harbour, the boats and ferries lining the coast line and down below the city alive with hundreds of people [View Full Entry]
