So after the visiting the sleepy little hollow of Bruges we headed for the peaceful little Hamlet of Amsterdam!!! Damn what a change of pace!! We arrived at our Hostel the flying pig uptown to be greeted by renovations to the place. No Bar, No carpet in the Halls etc. It was a joke and just a real downer as usually the Hostel is a good meeting point for the nights festivities especially if you have been exploring the city by yourself for the day. But most people just stayed away from the place as it was so ordinary and had no bar or even anywhere to sit down, no internet nothing!!! They did bribe us with free beer though, however we had to go to the downtown bar to drink this. We arrived pretty late ... read more
Well i must say i have been very slack with this thing since starting busabout. Not that i dont spend time on the computer but it seems to either listen to the tigers gettin smashed or to try and recover from another pub crawl hangover...but in saying that it then makes it very difficult to concentrate for an real amount of time. I have decided though that i am now going to keep this upto date, well fairly. As for where i have been and what i have seen well where do i start??? I will say right at this minute i am a little over sightseeing!! Oh know not good when you are on the road for so long but i have seen so many churches, palaces, castles to last me a lifetime!!!! I am ... read more
Well got on the bus in Paris and met the biggest drunk in the world!!! Just my luck!!! Nah just kidding but i did meet Adam and Nicole from Adelaide who are great. We travelled to Bruges, a quaint little Medieval Town in Belguim. It took me about 4 hours to see enough and realise that the Hostel Bar was prob where i was going to stay for the next 2 nights. Dont get me wrong Bruges is really really nice, but its somewhere really to go to with a partner that you can have little picnics by the canals and stuff like that, not much else to do really. So it was with that, that i also met G and Haley from NZ, also great people who dabble in a little binge drinking!!! So basically ... read more
Well after Gallipoli we spent the next day just wandering round the streets of Istanbul until we had to head to the Airport. I think we managed to find the craziest Taxi driver we could to take us there and to top it off there were no seatbelts in the back, GREAT!!! Safely made it to the airport and got on our flight with Swiss air bound for Zurich and then Heathrow putting behind 5 days that i will truly never forget, though i didnt know it at the time my adventure had only just began. On arrival back at Heathrow i went to the passport control desk and thought beautiful, not long to go and i will be at Haysies place, having a hot shower!! Welll the guy behind the desk asks, You applied for ... read more
We arrived in Istanbul about 2 hours late after our flights were delayed gettin off the ground and leaving Zurich due to a connecting flight being late, we also had to circle for about 20 mins over Istanbul for whatever reason. Queued up for passport clearance for about 20 mins before realising that we needed to buy a visa, not one bloody sign in the place said we did and most people did the same as Katie and I, her friend Jamie didnt need one as Kiwi's dont require it for some reason, but she had to wait for us anyway. We got to the Hotel we were staying at after witnessing some of the craziest driving that i have ever seen. They are all mad and just cut each other off and turn from the ... read more
Met Katie in lovely Acton Town, the sun was shining and there was nothing to do but put on some shorts and thongs and have a lovely Guinness!!! Can't seem to get enough of that stuff. Actually i did do some stuff i had a heap washing to to so i used the washing ,achine at Katies and then went up the street to use the dryer. After this we sat a round for a little and then made our way to a favourite haunt of Katies, the Mill Hill. 2 for 1 meals so was looking forward to a nice hot meal. Well on arrival we met some of Katies friends there and decided on what we were going to order. Now for anyone who has been to the Cohuna pub, or any country pub ... read more
Well today is my last day in Dublin, heading to London tomorrow morning at 9:00am (not looking forward to the early start!!) to meet up with my cousin Katie at her place in Acton Town. Thankfully they have a washer and a drier as i am fast running out of clothes to wear, even though i over packed. My friend Clint (Haysie) lives not far from here also so will hopefully got to have a pint with him before we head off to Turkey for our Gallipoli tour in the morning, ahhh more planes!! Well the last couple of day have been beautiful in Ireland and i have made the most of them by doin a few tours. On Saturday i went to Newgrange which is about 1.5 from Dublin city in the country. It was ... read more
Well, back in Sunny Dublin after a few days in Galway cirty. Galway is a very nice little city, full of Universtiy students, around 15,000 of a population of around 90,000 people, so it has a young feel to it. I think the last timei wrote i forgot to mention that i went to Croke Park. For all you non-sport's fans this is where the play the hurling and gaelic football and where the play the all ireland finals but more importantly, where the Aussies's beat the Irish in International Rules, well occasssionly the beat us too. it is a really good staduim, the 4th biggest in europe i think. They showed a video before the tour showing the crowd and stuff there during match day. Would love to comeback and watch a game of Hurling ... read more
Well i have completed the first week of my European adventure, having spent a few days in Dublin and now sitting in Galway City typing this blog, ckind of thought that this might be the best way to communicate with most of you back home and also for my friend abroad, new, old and those i am yet to meet. Well spent 5 days in Dublin and got to see much of the city, and quite a few of the bars also!! First stop was Abbey Court Hostel and a 10 bed dorm where i met Romeo from Italy and Patricio from Argentina who are both in Dublin studying English, and looking for work also. Has been funny trying to communicate with them both sometimes as Romeo and Patricio both speak Spanish and often Romeo has ... read more
