All, Well, I am writing this blog from Brussels, Belgium, having just arrived a few hours ago. I'll start with yesterday in Killarney. I woke up very early, and was honestly very bored waiting for the game to start, which wasn't until 330. I went and grabbed some breakfast for the second day in a row at a neat little place called McDonnells. I had a nice Egg McMuffin and hash brown for only 3 Euros. Actually, I am sorry it was called McDonald's, yes I went to the golden arches two mornings in a row. After breakfast, I actually went [View Full Entry]

Heading to Belgium
Brussels Scenery

All, Well, that is the question that all Killarney and the rest of County Kerry is asking themselves for tomorrow's game. That is also the question I decided to ask myself this morning, and the answer was a resounding yes. Last night, I ended up just hanging out around the hostel, and pretty much doing nothing, and heading to bed pretty early. I got up at like 6 this morning to get my game plan in order. I did a little research for hostels in Croatia and spent a little time on IM. I have decided to include Croatia on the [View Full Entry]

The Irish Love their race and sports books
They knew I was coming to town

All, Well, the reason I could bike 500 miles is because I feel like I already did at least 499 of them today. I will get to that in a minute, but for now an update on how things are going here on the Southwest corner of the Emerald Isle. I woke up yesterday at like 5:30 in the morning to shower and get ready for the bus ride to Killarney. One of the main reasons I chose the hostel I did in Dublin was that they bragged on their website about their authentic Irish breakfast and their morning meal was [View Full Entry]

All, Well, I made it to Ireland in good shape. After some crazy traffic in NYC that turned an hour commute to JFK into a 2.5 hour ordeal, I made it on my flight just in time to sit on the runway for an hour and a half. We ended up being around 45 minutes late into Dublin, but no worries for me, most days I will not be on a schedule at all, and this was one for them. After picking up my backpack, I headed off to the city center via the bus system. Of course, the bus that [View Full Entry]

All Packed up and ready to leave the states

All, Well, my precipitation soaked time in Gotham is over. I am re-packing the backpack and getting ready to head for JFK for my 7pm flight to Dublin, Ireland. Yesterday after I updated the blog, I headed out on the subway, and after getting lost a little bit, ended up down by the former World Trade Center site again, and from there walked to Battery Park. That was pretty cool, it reminded me al ot of London's king's walk along the Thames. I grabbed a dog on the street, and then headed up to Central Park to meet Chris. After going [View Full Entry]

Thatsa Nicea Pizza
Waiting for the Delta!

All, Well, my journey has begun. I woke up yesterday at 6 am, got my backpack organized, and headed off to the airport. Packing a backpack for 6 weeks was much more intimidating that I thought it would be, in the end i ended up with 7 t-shirts, 4 long sleeve t-shirts, 7 pairs of socks, 7 boxer shorts, and a fleece. Not one collared shirt in the lot! After a sad goodbye with my girlfriend Christie in the aiport parking lot, it was off to NYC. I slept on most of the flight, and was only awaken once or twice, [View Full Entry]

All, Well, the trip has essentially begun. The backpack has been brought out of storage and dusted off, the new pair of tennis shoes have been purchased and broken in, the IPOD is being updated as i type, the plane reservations have been checked and re-checked and the money is almost all lined up. Two weeks from now I will be stepping off a plane in Dublin, Ireland. Everything is coming to a close here in St. Louis, and the nerves are starting to build as well. I'm not really talking about bad nerves or being nervous about traveling alone across [View Full Entry]

I have vowed to get my money's worth out of my EurailPass

Alright, well I leave for my six-week European backpacking adventure in a little over a month (Aug 19th to be exact). I will be touching down in Dublin on the morning of August 22, after a two and a half day stop in NYC. The question I asked in my title is one that has been racking my brain as of late. The word traveler seems to be bandied about a lot as something to aspire to without much instruction on how to go about accomplishing the said feat. In fact, on all the commercials for the Travel Channel lately, the [View Full Entry]

10 weeks from today, I will be in Ireland, on Day 1 of my second Eurotrip. Ok, here is the deal: I am going to Europe for a 45 day backpacking extravaganza on aug 19th. This will be my second trip across the pond. I went on a 15 day travel-sprint across the continent last November that saw me visit London (3 nights), Bruges (1) , Amsterdam (2), Berlin (1) , Prague (2) , Interlaken (3), Venice (1), and Munich (2). On my second trip, I am looking to load a bigger chunk of Europe into my memory banks and my [View Full Entry]

All, First, I have no idea why it is typing in bold, but secondly, today is the day I come back to STL, so it is time to hit the road. It is so weird to be so sad to leave some place but just as excited to come home at the same time. I am sure everyone has had that feeling before. Well, last night myself and 5 other American guys and girls kind of did a mini pub crawl around town, finishing at the HofBrau Haus again, which did not dissappoint, man those pretzels are as good as they [View Full Entry]
