All, Well, my stay in Cesky Krumlov so far has been pretty much what I expected it to be; a very relaxing time in a very old medieval city on the banks of the Vltava River. Getting Here was another story ... I woke up in Vienna at 4:30 am yesterday (Sunday), and stumbled my way to the main train station to catch the tram that was running outside of it to the secondary train station in Vienna. The morning took an unfortunate but sadly expected turn when I found out via a transit worker that the tram was not working [View Full Entry]

*** some of the pictures displayed here are courtesy of Stu Wilson's Facebook Page *** All, Well that is the slogan on tons of different merchandise sold around Vienna, and from what I can tell, they are correct, I have not seen a one, unless you include the usual throngs of Aussie tourists. Anyway, since the last update, the trip took a couple unexpected turns, well primarily one big one in Florence, and I will get to that in a second. I took the overnight ferry from Split to Ancona, Italy, and it was great. I found a real nice couch [View Full Entry]

Hitting Halfway on Hvar Europe » Croatia » Dalmatia » Hvar
All, Well, I made it to the island of Hvar and back, and I can say that this Island is the real deal. It is just a breathtaking island with old orange-roofed medieval buildings, and a cool little fortress watching over the town from above and just the overall laid back island vibe. I was in heaven for the day. At the hostel I was staying at, they were advertising for a job working the reception for a week or so and as pay, getting to stay for free, and I almost took them up on it! The hostel was actually [View Full Entry]

All, Well, it seems like it has been forever and there is a lot to cover, so I will get to typing. Off the top, rest assured, I am doing just fine, soaking up the rays and the warm sea breezes along the Dalmatian Coast in Croatia. I left Switzerland early on Friday morning, and pretty much spent the whole day in transit as I caught trains from Interlaken to Spiez, Spiez to Milan, Milan to Bologna, and then Bologna to Ancona, where I caught the overnight ferry to Split. So, the day was pretty much a wash tourist wise. The [View Full Entry]

Cool Little Beach Bar

Beach Shot II

All, Well, my time in the mountain retreat also known as Gimmelwald will be coming to an end here in a few short hours. Last night, I just hung around the hostel, and listened to the Aussies play guitar, and had a couple beers. There is a small bar inside the hostel that also serves pizza and coffee, and it is a welcome sight after a long day of hiking. I also got in the hot tub last night and just relaxed for a little bit, there were so many stars out, I couldn't even begin to guess how many were [View Full Entry]

All, Well, it was very tempting to simply title this blog "I will let the pictures speak for themselves" and then go to bed, but I figured I would go ahead and add a few more specifics of what I have been up to the last couple days. Needless to say, the scenery here in Gimmelwald is out of this world. It honestly takes your breath away. The last couple of mornings I have been up around sunrise talking to Christie on IM, and have strolled outside to see the stars give way to the early traces of daylight over the [View Full Entry]

When you are traveling, there are often things you end up doing on a whim, that end up being highlights of a trip. Moments where you make a quick decision to alter your laid plans, and it ends up paying off bigtime. That was how my monday unfolded here in Switzerland. En route from Barcelona to Gimmelwald, I had elected to stay a night in Geneva. It was a pretty uneventful night as expected, as my main activities were to simply walk along the lakefront, and check out Jet d'Eau, which is a huge water fountain that just sprays one shot [View Full Entry]

Closing the BAR ... Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Barcelona
Alright, well my time in Barcelona has come to a close. On Friday night, I ended up heading out with a hostel roomate of mine, a guy from New jersey, and we checked out the fountain show at the Art Museum. It was really cool, highlighted by a really cool song that was the theme of the '92 olympics. After that we went and grabbed a drink, but I headed home and he went and met some friends of his. On Saturday, I woke up and we headed down to the beach, and I finally got to throw around my frisbee [View Full Entry]

Raising the BAR ... Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Barcelona
All, Well, I am doing great here in Barcelona, Spain. Like I had mentioned in the past, I have had high expectations for Barcelona for a long time, and I am thrilled to report that it she is living up to the lofty goals I had set for her. When I arrived, I was actually feeling a bit under the weather, nothing major, just a runny nose and constant sneezing. It started in Paris, when I was walking around all day in the cool weather. It continued to Barcelona, and by time I found my hostel here on Wednesday night, I [View Full Entry]

One Day In Paris Europe » France » Īle-de-France » Paris
Well, where did I leave off? I think I was in Brussels about to head out on the town for the night. I ended up doing just that, hanging out with an Australian couple and an Italian guy. We went to a couple pubs, the most famous of which would be the Delrium, which appreantly is the home base of sorts for that beer, and claims to be in the record books for most beer served. Me, being the sceptic that I am will have to wait til I have time at home to "take it to the net". I headed [View Full Entry]
