We Be Jamón Europe » Spain » District of Madrid » Madrid
All, Well, yes we have finally made it to Madrid and had one full night here. Getting here was quite the adventure though. When we had booked our flights, We were supposed to go from St. Louis to Boston, and then Boston to Madrid. About a week after we booked those flights our itenarary changed and added in an additional flight to JFK and that was where we would be heading to Spain from. So, we already felt that this was kinda weird and both had bad feelings about it, but went along with it anyway. Of course, when we got [View Full Entry]

Inside Courtyard at the Hostel

Well, here I am again, writing a blog in preparation for an upcoming trip to Europe. Seems like only yesterday traveling abroad was just a pipe dream, something that was always talked about with an asterisk but never executed. The asterisk was "It will never happen, ... too hard, too expensive, too scary, and for Christ's sake, how are you going to get that time off?". Sure, I could record Europe travel shows on TV, and talk a big game after I had a couple beers with friends, but nothing ever happened, of course. Now, planning an international adventure has become [View Full Entry]

I'll Be "Chillin" in Europe with This Guy
Some Great Times from last fall

All, Well, as I think most of you probably know, I am back in St. Louis, and starting to get back into the swing of things stateside. I spent my last night in Europe getting rained on in Dublin and sleeping with the window open in my Temple Bar hostel so I could hear the Irish music drifting through the air. It was actually a really cool deal, and in some weird way, was a really peaceful way to say goodbye to Europe. After another brief stop in NYC it was back to St. Louis where I celebrated my Dad's birthday [View Full Entry]

Closing Time Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
All, Well, I have just arrived in Dublin, Ireland, am ready to put the finishing touches on what has been an awesome trip. I fly out at 9am tomorrow to NYC, and spend the day and night there, before heading back to St. Louis early Thursday afternoon just in time to catch the Blues season opener that night and celebrate my Dad's birthday with some nice St. Louis style pizza. Speaking of pizza, I don't even want to know how many slices I have had on this trip. It started out in NYC, and has just rolled from there. One of [View Full Entry]

Hockey Night in Fussen Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Fussen
All, Well I arrived in Fussen, Germany yesterday looking for a couple days of just rest and relaxation, and that is exactly what I have found. The city is at the southern tip of the German Tourist boards self-created and so called "Romantic Road", and is the home to the two famous castles of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. There are the ones that the Disney Castle was apparently modeled after, and they are breathtaking. Well, it may just be the backdrop they are up against which is just beautiful Bavarian countryside that makes it, but, either way, it is worth [View Full Entry]

Decent, even with a disposable camera

All, Well, I am glad to be typing because my throat is pretty darn sore from THE Oktoberfest. In Munich, every mention of the Oktoberfest is always prefixed with the word "THE", so I guess we maybe know where Ohio St got the idea for their little thing. So, the second day of Oktoberfest was much like the first, this time I arrived at the HofBrau Tent at around noonish with my new Canadian buddy and a cool couple I had met the night before from Phoenix. Of course, the couple from Phoenix and I bonded over stories about my sister [View Full Entry]

Oktoberfest: Awesome Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
All, Well, I am coming to you live from the middle of the international drinking festival otherwise known as Oktoberfest, and let me tell you right out of the hopper that Oktoberfest is exactly the way you would picture it, and lives up to all the expectations that you might have for it. Words cannot accurately describe the sensory stimulation that occurs when one arrives at the train station in Munich during the Oktoberfest. As soon as you step on to the platform, the smell of beer and pretzels lingers in the air, and there is just a buzz in the [View Full Entry]

All, Well, if you don't watch Entourage on HBO, you are probably not going to get that title. If you do, please don't tell me how the last season ended, I am looking forward to catching up when I get back to the States. As far as the trip goes, I am doing great, just hanging out on the Ligurian coast here in Cinque Terre, Italy. Cinque Terre is kind of the collective name given to all five towns, and even though I know that is an inaccurate description of my exact location, it's just going to have to do. My [View Full Entry]

All, Well I have made it to the eastern-most destination of my trip: Budapest, Hungary. Honestly, I will just throw it out there that I do not know a ton about this city or this country, and I am not going to even pretend otherwise. All I knew about Hungary before my first Eurotrip last November was that it was apparently where former Cardinals pitcher turned homer broadcaster turned seedy saloon operator Al Hrabosky's family was from. So, it had that working for it, or against it depending on your opinion of homer broadcasters or seedy saloon operators. Upon doing research [View Full Entry]

All, Well, since the last update, I have been just hanging out here in the CK, just relaxing at the hostel and around town. On Tuesday, the weather took a turn for the Autumn worst as it was grey, rainy, cold, and cloudy. It was actually kind of relaxing as the only expectations for the day were to hang out at the Krumlov House and drink coffee all day. After I had my fill of Czech Joe, I made my way back to the brewery, and this time sampled the Yeast Beer taht had been reccomended to me by several people [View Full Entry]
