Hello again! Croatia looks amazing... I bet is is unbelievable being there because the pictures are incredible. I will definately have to travel there some day. If you guys have time in Munich you should definately try to travel to Austria it is amazing you can see the alps. Spend a day there I recall it is a couple hours away from Munich. EIther way you will have so much fun in Germany! I love it there. :) Well, travel safe!

Smell - From: Hvar is Paradise. Period.
Right about now, you guys should be smelling a bit like Ghandi's flip flops. Maybe that's why you got a private room at the hostel? Very jealous of the trip, but very much enjoying reading and seeing the pictures. When you get to Nice, hopefully they will have finished builting the tram system and it'll be a breeze getting around there. When J and I were there it was a huge building site! Oh, and the beach is pebbles, so remember to take your sandals right to the water's edge!

2 men, 2 bikes, 1 love story - From: Lisbon There Done That
Gents - pics look great and was pleasantly suprised that you imported your videos. I almost feel like I'm there (if it weren't for the St. Louis City gunshots and screaming baby in the next room). I have seen some write-ups on the traditional Fado singing and it seemed to live up to the expectations. That hostel looks top notch, almost too nice for you hoosiers. As you mentioned, the trolley ride looked just like the ones Uzz and I took in San Fran a few years ago. I also haven't heard any stories about The Fuzzy Duck seducing any EuroTrash yet...they must hate Americans more than I thought. Hopefully, his game will pick up in Italia. Keep up the blogs, pics, and videos.

You Liva Like Pigs! - From: Real World: Madrid
The idea of good tapas, cold shandys, and a game of footy sounds too good to be true. I hope Portugal treats you right and you run into the Romeo Lucas Clan. It rained balls here in the Lou on Sunday and caused substantial flood damage around town. By the time you get back, the Cards season will be over, the Rams season will be over, and the Blues season will just be getting under way... Have fun and don't let Uzzell hump the sea lions.

The Rain in Spain Falls Lightly on the Plain - From: We Be Jamón
Boys, looks like you are off to a good start in Spain. I will have to say that we are on the same page with the jamon. I couldn't get enough of the stuff over there in 2006. Melissa and I were big fans of the spicy chorizo and churros con chocolate as well. Keep trying new foods, new drinks, and new ways to infuriate the local populace. Hope you scored those tix to the Real Madrid game before trekking to Lisbon. Keep us all posted.

Uncle Freddie's not dead? - From: Walking in Budapest
What's new in Eastern Europe? I'm disappointed that you weren't lynched as part of some political demonstration. Maybe you could use the King Ralph defense and end up as the new monarch of Hungary. You'll have to fill me in on how those thermal springs treated you. I was a fan of the Turkish bath I went to in Spain. I'm pleasantly surprised that you compared the houses along the Danube to those of the Garden District in NOLA. Interesting comparison and I never would have thought that. Any traditional food sories from Hungary? I'm guessing you are already in Cinque Terre by now, strolling through the five coastal towns. The waterfront scenery and beaches have to be top notch. Make sure you try some good food while in Italy, before gorging yourself on bratwurst and pretzels in Bavaria. Not much going on here in The Lou... Melissa and I spent the afternoon at the wineries in Augusta, watching the bachelorettes dance and fall all over the place. The Cardinals were mathematically eliminated frm the playoffs on Friday. The Rams try to avoid going 0-3 later on today. The Blues beat the Thrashers 3-2 last night. Jesse Donner got engaged and most of us didn't even know she had a boyfriend. Keep me posted on Italy and Octoberfest. Drink from the boot, but remember to watch for the bubble.

Czech, please! - From: Cheeseburger in Czech Paradise
Scotty - I'm guessing you've made it to Hungary by now. I've been out of town for work since Sunday and have gotten behind on your travels. Vienna and the Czech Republic sound like they have a lot to offer, if even for just a couple days. (Too bad you couldn't pick up that Blues/Stars game, but Kariya has been the true highlight of the preseason - contributing on every goal so far.) Those "cheeseburgers" you were scarfing down sound like an interesting treat. I'm glad the yeast beer was as good as advertised. Did you ever solve the mysterious influx of Asian tourists in CK? I would give the Hungarian style goulash a shot - it seems like the dish originated in Hungry, so who knows. I think it was a great idea to hit up the opera in Vienna, even just for Act I. How many chances will we get to see a true European opera, especially in Austria. Pisa should be a great stop and you'll get to spend a little more time in Florence. Scandinavia will just have be on your 2008 agenda. Keep taking pictures and filling us all in with the details.

The Croatian Sensation - From: Hitting Halfway on Hvar
Hope your ferry to Italy went ok. I'm guessing you didn't have time to stop in Slovenia? Sounds like Hvar hit the spot and Luna did you right Maybe I will give them a call and try to make reservations for 500 men, just like Space in the STL. Aren't you heading up to Scandinavia before attending Octoberfest? Maybe you'll get a grat deal on an Ikea bookcase or some wooden shoes. Blues camp started today at 9:30am and there were some great live radio interviews with Kariya, MacInnis, JD, Berglund, Tkachuk, Plager, etc. on the radio all day. It crazy that we already play the Predleys at home this Sunday night. We're all heading down south tomorrow for camping and canoeing all weekend. It's actually a cool 65 degrees here at night now. Keep having a great time and be sure to meet as many travelers as possible. I'll talk to you from Florence.

Are you ready for some football? - From: The Mountains Win Again
Scotty Too Hotty - I'm guessing you are in Crotia now and would love to know how that turns out. At least you were in Switzerland for several days, giving you enough time for hiking and to build an addiction to rosti. Sounds you aren't having trouble meeting fellow travelers. I just got back from Tucson last night. We had a great time out there and Ted has a great house in the mountains, at the bottom of Ventana Canyon. The golf course was phenomenal and the Cardinals game in Phoenix was a blast. I'll "talk to you" later in Eastern Europe.

North Face - Hair in the Face - From: Alpine Mountain High
Now those are some pictures! I'm glad the weather broke and you got the full view of the mountain landscape. Gimmelwald looks unbelieveable and I'll have to put Switzerland higher up on on my To Do list. Have a great time talking hockey with your Canadian collegues and keep tasting the local rosti cuisine. By tommorrow here in the States, I'll be in Scottsdale AZ, the Cardinals could be in 1st place, and the NFL Season kicks off. Try not to get caught milking the cows!

Pig in a Poke Champion - From: Lazy Day on Lake Lucerne
Pics look great. The hostels seem to be treating you very well in every country, with no horror stories about sharing a room with a overly-friendly naked Lithiuanian grandfather. The mountains look inviting and the weather seems pretty good. But I'm not sure why you keep hitting up Starbucks all over the EU? I would think you would appreciate the idea of patronizing the "mom and pop" coffee houses and stop giving into the corporate greed. Sorry, I have to head out now for dinner at Qdoba and then Cold Stone Creamery for dessert, but I'll send another comment with your next travel blog. Keep on truckin'!

Speaking of Gay Paris - From: One Day In Paris
Glad you liked Paris, though you really didn't seem to have much time to cram everything in. Surprisingly, I thought the Eiffel Tower was bigger than what I expected. Either way, we can agree that the chocolate and banana crepes and ham and cheese croquettes are to die for. You should have orderd a cup of real deal French Onion soup. (We all thought you might have been able to join us at the FFL draft last night live from Barcelona. At least you picked up LT!) Too bad you couldn't make it to the big Tomato War yesterday, but I'm sure Spain will treat you right. Of course, try some good tapas with smoked jambon, rioja wine or dry sherry, spicy chorizo, and a order of churros con chocolate to snack on. Keep the blogs coming.

Wow - From: Jumping to the Mainland
Scotty, looks like you're having a blast! I'm sure the Guinness in Ireland tastes just a little bit better than in the States. Have fun in Brussels. I've been reading all your entries ... keep up the good work!

Betting and Boozing in Ireland - From: Are You Ready For Some Football?
Sounds like you are having a great time in Ireland. The pictures are great. It's too bad we can't just place a sports bet on the street back here in the States. I'm jealous of your travels and I really need to make it to the "homeland" sooner than later. You should have took a side trip to Comerford Castle in Ballybur over in County Kilkenny and dropped my name for some free soda bread and colcannon. I just finished my first Fantasy Football Draft of the year and it's a good feeling that NFL season is just around the corner. Well, have a great time and keep updating this blog - I check it every day after work so I can live vicariously through you. Maybe you will run into Mick McCarty on your way to Dublin. Be sure to visit the Jean Claude Van Damme Museum in Brussels!

you bastard - From: Departing On A Jet Plane
Scotty - Couldn't be more jealous about your trip, my man. Glad you are out doing it. I'll keep watching for when you hit Brussels - I've definately got some suggestions for you.

I Envy You - From: Bright Lights, Big and Wet City
I think your trip plans sound great and I enjoyed your description of your time in New York. I wish I could travel like this, but since I'm an old lady (although I'm younger than your mother) with old lady responsibilities and very little money I'll just have to travel vicariously through you. Bon voyage!

Welcome to NYC - From: Bright Lights, Big and Wet City
Hey Scott, I just discoverd this website recently. I'm really enjoying reading about peoples travels and adventures. I just got back from Egypt a week ago. I plan on starting a blog here too. Just wanted to drop you a welcome note since I live in NYC and youre here right now. Enjoy your stay! I dont think the rain is supposed to let up until after you leave. You may want to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. :) It's huge (dry) and you can donate a dollar and spend the day there. Paul

Traveler vs. tourist - From: So, What exactly is a Traveler again?
That's a good question but I think you're being a little to hard on the tourists. I mean, sure the Louvre is a place visited by millions of tourists but IT`S THE LOUVRE. You can't really go and say you're not gonna go someplace just because other people are doing it. That's like not listening to a great band just because they're played on MTV. I think the key to being a traveler vs. a tourist is slowing down a bit, immersing yourself in the culture and not comparing the culture to your own but rather seeing it for what it is. I dunno, that's my take. You're getting to the EU the day after I head back to the states so good luck and good times.
