| 3rd January 2007 Dad | That ship in San Diego - From: Day 1 San Diego Yes, its famous, its The Star of India. Built in the mid 1800s in England and used for passenagers from England to NZ in the late 1800s. It has a iron hull instead of wood that was unusual for the time. It then became a fishing cargo vessal from Alaska to California until the early 1900s. Then it was bought by someone who left it there. In the mid 1900s it was restored (very lucky ship) and so its there now, and even does special sailing trips!! |
