South America -- \'Round the Horn and Hiking Machu Picchu

a trip by Carol N Steve Steinbrecher
From: December 2nd 2012
Until: January 15th 2013

Steve's Mom passed away in 2011 and left him an unplanned inheritance. Wondering how to best honor his Mother\'s probable wishes for what to do with it, he asked himself, \"What would my Mom tell me to do with this money if some one else had given it to me out-of-the-blue?\" The answer was pretty straight-forward: \"Get your darned teeth fixed, and then go someplace you would not otherwise be able to visit and learn something valuable about the world you live in!\" Steve went to the dentist and got his teeth into tip-top condition, and one day he and Carol were reading an advertisement from Princess Cruises: \"Sail all the way around South America, visit 11 countires, including a cruise around the bottom of the world at Cape Horn.\" THAT got our attention, so we called our niece\'s husband, who is a world class travel agent, and asked him to make it happen. As they say, the rest if history.

We were fortunate enough to do both the cruise trip, and also visit one of the top places on our bucket-list (Carol calls it our \"Living List\") at the same time: Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and Lake Titicaca, the world\'s highest and largest fresh water lake, all locatd in Peru. We topped it off with a week-long stay in beautiful Buenos Aires, where Carol realized her dream of attending a \"real\" Argentine Tango show. The blog you will read here is the story of our trip, broken into a day-by-day accounts of the major highlights of our adventures together.

If you are reading this blog, then you already have been given access to the accompanying photo library, so we hope ypou enjoy sharing our adventure with us! Please feel to comment, as we will check up on this space from time-to-time, and you are welcome to share and use any of the photos we wook as well.

All The Best,
