Therefore, the authorites decided that for the first time the new metro stations will have in the future panels and glass cases to show the people what it has been discovered in that spot in order to contextualize the artworks belonging to the ancient Romans.

Rome airport transportation: the strike of Rome's taxis The requests of the taxi drivers in Rome Italian Taxi drivers renewed the strike in the middle of July 2006 after talks over government plans to deregulate the sector ,causing chaos in many cities. The drivers staged various forms of protests, besieging main squares, deliberately snarling traffic, blocking access to several airports and organizing go-slow drives, local media reported. In Rome, the drivers descended on central Piazza Venezia, the city center of Rome, soon after midnight after taxi unions abandoned the negotiating table. They remained there throughout the night and forced local authorities to close the square off to traffic. Some 60 other taxis took part in a go-slow drive from the city's main airport to the city and back again, causing further problems. The protests were ... read more

Rome will have soon a new airport. In these days Rome airport authorities are debating about the possibilities to build or not a new airport in Rome. At the moment Rome has three airports: Fiumicino, for the international flights, Ciampino, for the low cost companies, and the City airport ( aeroporto dell' Urbe ), normally used as miltary airport as well as training center for the italian pilots and the helicopters of Rome. In these months the passengers traffic at Ciampino airport increased and the city needs also to move part of the low cost air traffic from Ciampino to Fiumicino. Three are the projects for the future of the Rome airports: 1- Ciampino airport is overloaded; 2-Fiumicino airport can be extended with a new terminal C, with the possibility to host more low cost ... read more

Eating and drinking in Rome restaurants. Rome is not only the capital of Italy but also of the region of Lazio, which is famous for its food. Robust flavours and rich sauces abound in many typical dishes of the area, and pasta and gnocchi in all their many forms ( especially fettucine ) are served in restaurants across Rome city. Lazio is notable for dishes featuring milk-fed lamb (abbacchio), veal (vitello), Parma ham (saltimbocca), thin-cut steak and offal, all of which are served with delicious herbs and seasonings. Best fish choices in Rome include sea bass (spigola), fried cod (baccalà), bream (orata) and turbot (rombo). Artichokes (carciofi) are scattered all over menus through the winter, before spring heralds the vignarola - a tasty blend of peas, fava beans, and artichokes served with cured pork cheek. ... read more

Leonardo da Vinci and Fiumicino: two names for one airport. In Europe, the hub-and-spoke mode of operation has an even longer history than in the US, having grown out of the past regulatory framework and of the prevailing geographic and political conditions, rather than as an autonomous market process. Each nation has had its own flag carrier, with a privileged position in and around its domestic market and frequently a large government ownership share. More often than not, flag carriers have been benefiting from considerable amounts of subsidies or direct financial support from the state. The airport of Rome capacity constraints and the slot allocation regimes with the practices currently in effect in Europe, constitute major barriers to entry and hence to competition and economic efficiency. However, the Eternal City in 1961 decided to add to ... read more
