Amazing Glad to hear you've made it safely home...can't wait to hear your relfections from the States and all about your plans in the upcoming months. Hope Thanksgiving was wonderful and you're staying warm!!
You look happy Hola Sarita, I love love love getting the update - especially 'cause I missed this past Sunday's unofficial Skype date...but I think by now you are back in Wisco??? I can't wait to hear more and to see you over the holidays...
You look happy, though. I feel you are...
Besote
You are an amazing woman, Sara. School's definitely not the same without you! Hope to see you when you come back to Denver! Keep up the wanderings--I'm glad you're so willing to share your adventure. Love ya!
what gorgeous nature shots Wow Sara, those nature shots, especially the flowers, are like a breath of fresh air right now. My family's hometown got 16 inches of snow last week. We don't have any, luckily, but the cloudy, bland weather is already giving me the blues. Thanks for sharing!!!
Sara,
The flowers are just beautiful. Do you think you can bring some of them home??? I am sure they are greaniums in the picture titled Beach Town Cabin. Are you making the shell necklace, or is that going to be a project for us to work on when you get home??
All of the blogs are so interesting to read and see the pictures, even for someone who like me who is not fond of traveling. I am sure the social studies teachers would like me to share them so they could show the students some of the pictures. Take care and we will see you next week.
Love and miss you,
Nancy
Finally! hey-
I just wanted to drop a quick note to say that I finally read this entry in your blog. Sounds wonderful and peaceful! Enjoy the attention....I know I would!
Love, Sara
stroll on the playa I know you moved down there for a working expericence, butfrom time to time it sounds like a nice way to spend time on a vacation. Of course, you were always better than me at making your weekends enjoyable!
I'm on the tail end of two straight days of parent conferences. Always a good time. Don't lie, I know you miss it.
Enjoy and make the most of every day.
Loving to hear from you! We just got back yesterday from Outdoor Ed. The weather was great and the kids were as usual.......mostly good. I love reading your blogs and still am living the adventure through you! You are still my hero! I wish you continued success! Take care and thanks for keeping me in the know. I hope to see you when you visit here.
Sar,
I enjoyed seeing the picture of you mowing (clipping) the lawn. I will have to remember that for when you are home during the lawn mowing season. All of the pictures have been beautiful. We are so proud of you for taking that huge step and teaching in another country. I wish I could write as well as you--must be the high school education from DDHS!! See you on the 21st.
Love,
Nancy
Sara: I can't wait to see you in January in Chile!! I love alfachokas, oops, alcachofas, and want to meet at the pizzeria for some alcachofa pizza... but only if you order it!! Thanks for sharing your adventures, so happy you're adjusting and learning to deal with the ways of the Chilenos... I know it can be difficult... did you visit Isla Negra yet???
besitos,
-monica
nothing profound Well, gee. I have no profound words flowing to me at the moment. I think that might be because it's clear you have found your groove there and are doing so well. But I think I have also lost the ability to type anything profound because I am knee deep in planning birthday parties, holiday parties and dealing with a pre-teen (and, well, Mayah who was a pre-teen at birth). sigh. I would love to spend a day looking out at the Andes with you. Today I am busy Feng Shui-ing my bedroom. Trying to set up my own private writing nook- a total Feng Shui no-no for a bedroom, but why don't those chinese folk try living in my tiny two bedroom LA apartment with a $0 budget?
Am I being foolish to ask whether there is a Wisconsin holiday return for you? We will be staying extra long this year since we missed last year and had such a short stay the year before. Dec 19-Jan 7! Excited to be able to see as many people as possible!
Thinking about you often! Proud, proud, proud-
Care
Thanks for keeping in the loop Sara,
I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading your blogs. I loved Chile so it is great to hear even more. I know you called Shawna and found out that I am a grandma. He is the cutest... and I am not the least bit prejudiced!!! It is an actual fact. Enjoy all your experiences.
Forgotten so soon! What about Schroeder and Bowes and me? We were always cheering and whistling when you walked by. But did we get the time of day? Could we elicit the slightest blush? Noooooo.
Sara - So happy to read that you are doing so well...work here has been getting more busy. Between that and my brothers' HS football games, I haven't had much time for life, but I will try to write a longer email to all the gals soon. I am thinking of you often and sending happy vibes down south. With Love, Anne
Our winter is coming. Brrrr, I woke up to 19 degrees this morning and was happy that I had put the electric blanket and down comforter on the bed. Meanwhile, you are heading into the summer season in Chile. It's hard to believe that you are a hemisphere away. Thanks for another informative blog and colorful shots of Chile. They are beautiful again. I can picture you relaxing on the park bench, studying Spanish while immersing yourself in the Chilean culture. I am proud of your courage and independence. I have sent you a snail mail letter with pictures included. I just haven't gotten around to using SnapFish at Nancy's. Hopefully the letter will arrive before you depart for WI. Be careful and stay safe. Don't let that blonde hair get you in trouble. Love and Baby Ducks. Mom
Artichokes Wow Sara!
sounds like great travels. My heart is so jealous when I look at all your pictures. [not to mention the mercury dropped to minus 10 today] Sorry I haven't written much -- or at all--. I hope you keep up the postings because I love to read them. I miss you. Stick with it, I'm know you'll pick up the kind of work that you want.
Brave! I'm sure its perfectly safe...but I think I might put a pencil next to the spider for scale instead of my hand! I think losing your wallet is more embarassing than having it stolen. At least you can blame someone other than yourself. =) I've done alot more of the former. Take it easy chica.
Sara,
I was amazed with the views of the city when you were on the beach. I had no idea that Chile has such tall buildings--but then again, Dean, the history and geography buff laughed at me because of my lack of knowledge.
As I was reading your blog I could smell the fresh bread baking in our school cafe.--I then thought--no I am sure the bread that Sara is tasting there is much better than what our students will be having for lunch today.
Love and miss you!!!
Nancy
work shmerk Hey! This is my first reading of your blog. Great idea! I am sitting in my dungeon of a classroom thinking about traveling last year and enjoying your stories. Don't forget - work is not all it's cracked up to be. I'm glad that they just took your wallet and left you alone. Those are my favorite kind of thieves.
Hope you are meeting tons of strangers and living out of your comfort zone. I look back on our trip and think I was too conservative, concerned about sleep, and wish I had lived it up a little more.
Living vicariously through you....suby
Hello from Wisconsin Hi Sara,
First of all I owe your dad an apology. He had not deleted your e-mail. Instead he has set up a personal file with all your blogs and e-mails in it. It is comforting just to pull it up and "share time with you". I've decided that if you can't find work as a teacher, maybe you should consider photography. Your shots were great again!! Of course I am partial to the baby duck one. Your wallet robbery was very frightening to me. At least you weren't hurt. Please be watchful and careful. Good luck with your teaching jobs. Hopefully more will be coming your way. Did you buy the shoes yet??? I will try to work on the Skype. I agree with Carrie, don't let the bed bugs bite--again. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU. BABY DUCKS!!!! MOM
