I was on my way for 11 days bike ride across Uttarakhand in month of jul 2011. This was my first long solo bike trip..Rains had just subsided.. News of earthquake at uttarakhand was fresh..Still the enthu was high and i was egerly heading towards Bandra Tirminus Station. I had booked the train ticket of Dehradun Express and boarded by RE Bullet Electra 2011 in luggage compartment. It was the 40 hours journey from Mumbai to Dehradun and the train stopped every station on its route. During 40 hours, around 3 times train engine has vanished with luggage compartment somewhere and came back in 15 minutes.. ..Its for getting other boggies at kota, meerut, haridwar etc. The train journey was slow but fun.. I reached dehradun at around 6 pm and station master asked me to ... read more

Weeks back i was watching teck show on TV.. It was shot in a Nature Park known as Maharashtra Nature Park.I had never heard about it ever before.. So i thought of visiting the park today. Its right in middle of the mumbai. Dharavi-the largest slum, is a must visit international tourist destination in mumbai and this park is right next to it. To be precise right next to Dharavi Bus Depot. It could be a worth visit for international tourist if at the right time. Meaning when the migratory birds are over there. Just check migration season before visiting the park. Locals can visit it any time. Actually its a must visit for locals cos its conduction some good environment awareness programs. Also remember unlike other parks, entry to this park is open only till ... read more

this is about my escapade during feb 2010 to vadodra.. it was a 2 days weekend visit.. genesis of this trip is in my earlier visit to junagad last year.. in junagad i came to know that there are 2 forts in gujarat namely, junagad and pavagad.. also during visit to museum in junagad i got references of historic places of dabhoi and champaner.. in all it looked quite attractive package.. vadodra city tour, champaner, pavagad, dabhoi.. i dont know why most of the vadodra tourist sites dont have mention of sardar sarovar dam. i realised it quite late and dint manage to visit there.. we left mumbai at night by train and reached vadodra before sunrise.. as a pleasent surprise we found rickshaw driver speaking to us in marathi... We started our journey early morning at 3 am towards Saputara which is around 260 kms from mumbai. We reached Nashik by 6:30 am through early morning open road. We diverted to Saputara road which goes via Vani and reached by 9:00 am. Saputara is a nice hill station place for weekend family trip. The enterence of the hill station has boating and ropeway call you or welcoming you. We did only Boating and Ropeway and visited the museum. Museum have things showing local tradition. There should be a guide or Light and sound show. Other things which you can do in addition to this is the Jain Temple, Horse/Toybike riding or buying some tribal arts like letter box, night lamp etc. In respect to tribal arts i found this place very similar to Jawhar which ... read more

We headed towards Somnath Jyotirlinga temple. Somnath temple one of most important Lord Shiva temple. The history of this temple is a true proof of the Glory of India in past. Before rise of west india was richest country in the world. Christopher Columbus landed in 1492 in West Indies when he tried to reach india from west. There where specialist persons who made maps in britain who were finding sea route to reach golden land of india. Richness of Indian land have attracted Mugals, portugese and britshers. How did india became worlds richest country then? This also raises questions as to how was journey of indian civilization from apes to worlds richest country. If the temples of india were so rich, how rich would be the citizens of india in those period. Somnath is the place which ... read more

Leaving the fort city Junagad behind at threeish, we left towards the GIR National Park - only Home for Asiatic Lions. The road towards GIR was good with different shades of green farms of wheat and coriander/parsley. Saasan village looked to me more developed as compared to Tala village from where we have entry for Bandhavgarh National Park. It was 7 pm by when we reached GIR. First thing to do was to attend the Light and sound show offered free by forest department at 7 pm. Government Forest Lodge is recently renovated and so in good shape. It has all range of stay available. They also have tents available. Next day we got up early and were at the gates by 6:00 am. There were not many visitors as compared to Bandhavgarh and Kahna ... read more

It seemed towards east. We got a rick which took us to shahpur village. This was a wrong move. We again had to hire another rick which took us till the base of Mahuli fort. ... read more
