WOW. Two blogs in two months? I'm on a roll! Speaking of rolls, try a caprese salad on a roll. The roundness makes it hard to eat, but it's delicious!! And Abby enjoys watching me eat it because I have a systematic way of eating it. The system is not foolproof but it is under development. So on Wednesday I left for Rimini and San Marino. It was nice, but I didn't achieve my goal of the trip: baseball. Rimini reminded me of Wildwood and kind of made me sad that I haven't been there in a while. I didn't really spend much time in Rimini except to sleep in my amazing (and amazingly cheap) hostel. Every day I took the bus out to San Marino to either explore or fail at trying to find baseball. ... read more

Ok, wow. I have a lot to talk about, don't I! You can blame me a little but cut me some slack; my computer broke! I also had a horrible case of strep throat that made me bedridden for two weeks, didn't respond to the first round of medication, and only went away after I was put on steroids. And I was sent to a gynecologist (because he spoke perfect English). So come on, give me some sympathy! On the plus side, between my robbery, sickness, and broken computer, I've learned a whole new vocabulary. Rubare = to steal, mal di gola = sore throat, cacciavite = screwdriver, garanzia = warranty. (The most recent addition is terremoto = earthquake, more on that later.) This is going to be a long entry, hopefully I have the motivation ... read more

We went to Torino this weekend. It was amazing! It was so pretty (even though it was cold, we all missed Rome's weather) and I feel that the people were much nicer. I wish I was about to write a blog about our great weekend and maybe eventually I will, but I have too much on my mind about other things. On the way back from Torino to Rome, two of our purses were stolen. We put them in a place where we thought it would be safe (I actually thought about the best place to put it that wasn't just me holding on to it), but apparently that wasn't good enough. Abby and I were closest to the door, so our purses were the most convenient. Whoever took them must have crawled below our legs ... read more

Rome is amazing. Seriously. If you have never been here, come here. NOW! I'll take you to my favorite pizza place (more on that later!) We've been doing a lot of the touristy things lately... all those were amazing, of course, but I have found in my travels that the more interesting stories are the ones that are unusual. Yesterday was my ideal day. I woke up to tons of emails from advisers and profs who were trying to figure out details of my graduation plan. I don't really feel like explaining the problem, it's just a huge headache that would have been avoided if I hadn't gone on this trip. BUT! I think I either worked it out or it will be worked out soon. It's a huge weight off my shoulders, but I still ... read more

Hello, Rome. Buongiorno. I can't wait until I'm comfortable enough to speak Italian to the locals... right now I'm just walking up to them and diving into English. (Although the locals I speak of were mainly at the airport or the housing office here). My flat's awesome. I have a single. Pictures are to come, probably. The flight was mostly uneventful. For future reference, try to have more than an hour for a layover in Amsterdam. They redo the security check! I made it though, so it's all good. On the way to Amsterdam, I sat next to this guy born in England, raised in Senegal (at an American high school), and goes to university in England. He has an American accent. Weird. He enabled my obsession with taking pictures of the sky as we were ... read more
