Steve
We went to Steve's memorial. It was quite a tribute to him, so many people showed up and shared stories about his life. The family gave out a sandwich bag with grass seed and a golf tee to each person. It was a beautiful day.

You go!
Sorting books at the Ulysses Library book sale yesterday, sports section- largest number of books by far are about sailing. Where the heck did all these sailing and navigation books come from? .............. oh!

Delightful!
What a delightful entry that I received today. I am so glad that you are finally finding out what it is all about. I would guess you already had a good idea, but am so glad that it is all coming to fruition. The moonlit evenings and the early morning sun shots are exquisite. Thank you.

If you get a chance to pick up a copy of Cruising World (Sept. issue) you will find an article written by Jonathan Gerlach! Keep your blog coming. We are really enjoying it. We might have come to the boat show, but Joan and Dick Germain are having a 60th wedding anniversary party that week end in Oswego. That seems to be stopping a lot of folks from the show.

What You're Missing
You two have had quite the adventure already. Guessing you didn't expect to encounter a hurricane this early in your travels, but am happy you are both okay. School started Wednesday and we are using locker rooms, the wrestling room and equipment closets as classrooms. The staff and students are making the best of it. We also have not figured out why the bells aren't working. Paul thinks there may be a short in the wiring where all the water was used for abatement. Being the creative group that we are, we are using an old hand held school bell which we ring while the intercom is on. Karen and I have a system where she sets the alarm to coincide with the block changes, and I ring the bell. It causes a chuckle from those in the office at the time. The auditorium is amazing. With the acoustics, the size of the stage and the sound system (state of the art), we could hold a big time concert in there. Bob, I know you are doing what you always wanted, but know you probably miss the kids and wanted to give you a little update on "What You're Missing"! I look forward to reading more about your adventures.

Hi, Great pictures, you guys. The photo of the sailboat next to the tanker was especially amazing. It's crazy how small you really are compared to some other vessels out there. It sounds like the trip is going well and you are adjusting to life on the boat. I hope you have smooth sailing towards the Chesapeake and into Annapolis for the boat show. I enjoy reading your blogs and seeing the pictures. Love, Laura

Totally enjoying your pics of your adventure. Just picked up the current "Prime Times" and wonder just who you know at the paper! Not the front page, but just inside is Bob peeking thru the steps on the mast. Says "Bob Waller, featured in our last Prime Times, is now well on his way around the world." Celebrities .......who knew! Enjoy and be safe. Judy and Jim

Your adventure
I love hearing about your adventure! It is the first day of school with staff and I took a break to read your exiting tales of meeting people. It warms my heart to ear of the other folks who have assisted you as you sail. I never knew that monarchs loved Bob. Hmmm... Butterfly Bob!

Down the Hudson
How exciting! And you're not even in blue water yet. I'm enjoying every entry and trying to keep my envy at bay.

canal /waterford
Appears you got down the canal in the nick of time. We had 3 to 4 " of rain in Interlaken. Driving the thurway I saw the locks by Little Falls had logs and deris backed up 10 feet or more. The next day they had a barge with a backhoe on it pulling the wood out of the water. The water was almost as high on the bottom side, as the top side of the dam, that much water going over. We enjoyed Waterford when we visited in 2005 on our canal trip. Gary

great!
Photos wonderful - sounds like you're getting the "kinks" worked out and all the parts in the right places. Never thought of the Hudson as majestic - but you got to see it in a whole other light. Wonderful to hear from you and hope Earl passes so you can get on with the trip. Sounds like every day is fun so far. Thanks for the great blog news...you're doing a terrific narrative. Good Luck.

So nice to meet you!
It was so nice to meet both of you at Pomodoros Restaurant in Catskill where you stopped in for dinner. I was your server last night and found your card this morning and thought I'd check out your site. You're on such an exciting adventure and it was great to be part of it. Enjoy!

Sailing Trip
Enjoyed the update. Sorry I couldn't get up to see your boat and you before leaving. Have been really busy here and barely any time for anything. I don't think I ever asked how long you plan for your first trip, or, are you just planning to travel for a period of time before returning to your home port? Wishing you a safe and pleasant trip. Enjoy paradise! Best, Nelson
