Nothing better to keep one awake at the airport in Singapore then a grande black tea at Starbucks! Either that or sleep on a bench at McDonald's with the other overnighters.... A little adventure never hurt anyone....Gerry in Singapore - 1....Backpack in Singapore - 0...... Should have been nervous frmo the start considering every time i tried to clear security at Vancouver and Hong Kong I was pulled aside so they could check my boarding passes... Oh how I love attention! My guess is that the new relationship between Westjet and Cathay Pacific has a few wrinkles still in it. Westjet provided me with all my boarding passes in Calgary which appeared to be quite different then what Cathay prints out at other terminals. Vacation extended another week.....confirmed two tours through Thailand and Malaysia, the first through GAP Adventures the other through Tucan tours out of Australia. That leaves me 11-12 days to fend for myself in southeast asia. Plan is to get in some diving, some sun, some surfing....find out what life as a beach bum feels like! Hope to post one more time before I leave on New Year's day, however my to-list seems to be getting longer not shorter as the days go by....... read more

Hello is this thing working...is anyone out there??? Blog appears to be up and running...one less item on my list of things to do before my trip. Heading to South East Asia for a little sun, sand, surf! Winter in Canada is overrated, getting some rays on the beaches of Bali, Lombok, Ko Samui and Ko Phi Phi are more to my liking. And let us not forget some hopefully stunning diving. So with 35 days to fill how will I figure out where to go, what to see and for how long? Hoping to decide before I leave on a tour or two, too bad most of the tours of interest all take place during the middle of the month.
