runaway girl maki - maki

maki Hi, this is maki from Davao City, Philippines.
Late last year, I started a sponsored 3-year course on Prosthetics and Orthotics in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia.
This give me enough time to fulfill 2 of my dreams, to study abroad and travel Asia.
This is my first time to live abroad, on my own.
But I'm really excited and promised to share all these new and amazing discoveries of diverse culture.

Thrill seeking is on my blood but not writing. So please beware and forgive my grammar and sentence construction, I'm not really good at it.

But none the less, please

Counting sheeps won't do anymore. With nights like this, better be productive and lose your head than do nothing and still end up having head ache the next day. Late nights in Phnom Pehn is quite different from what I used to have. Back home, last full show, movie can do the trick. A drink would also be great. For the latter, I know you can do it here, but security going back home is not that guaranteed for a lot of reasons. One, not much availabale taxi cabs. This means that you can just either take tuktuk (the best choice [View Full Entry]

Killing the Monday sickness ahead of time, 2 of my classmates and I decided to check out the National Museum of Cambodia. It took me almost 6 months to go and see it, although I just live minutes drive away from it. Well, NMC is just North of the Royal Palace (another wonder that I hadn't taken time to stroll, shame "taking- things-for-granted-since-it's-at-my-reach-virus " is taking over me). You got to pay $3 for foreigners and 500 r for Cambodians to see the finest collections of Khmer arts. Aside from typical culinary utensils unearthened, it also contains huge collection of sand [View Full Entry]

I'm not a morning person. For a certified night owl like me, I really dread mornings, except if I find myself still awake from an overnight of doing my usual stuff....well, sometimes I happen to live by night and sleep by day, just the typical night-owl-me. Well this is one of those days. Since I still didn't feel sleepy (it's already 6am and I hadn't sleep yet since last night) I decided to go for a walk. Destination, Wat Phnom. Situated on 27m high, it is the only hill on the city. Legend says that the first pagoda was built in [View Full Entry]

I spent my christmas last year in Ho Chi Minh. This blog is way too late, I know, still I would like to share the experience I had there. Christmas season is a big feast for Filipino community. This is the time where those that are separated to their families either by work or by choice had the chance to reunite and celebrate. So since this is my first Christmas away from my family and my country, I bid to make the best out of it. I arrived Late September in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia to take up a 3-year study on [View Full Entry]

When I was in college night life is the life apart from nerve wracking exams. But lately most of my friends are having a detour. For all those who had been bored with the neon lights are now opting for greener scenery. Cigarette smokes to fresh air. So before I could even hit The Land of Promise, Davao City, for the most awaited vacation from school, I already had my plans laid down but silently hoping that I can fit Cebu and Bohol via Cagayan de Oro City, Seagull resort and Camp Sabros trips in 3 weeks time. But as they [View Full Entry]
