Sorry to correct you Edward but Animal farm was not a 1970's pop culture novel by the American author George Orwell. Eric Arthur Blair was in fact English, used the pseudonym George Orwell, died in 1950 and wrote a number of wonderful novels, including the satire, Animal farm, exposing the myth of the Soviet system. It was published in August 1945.
