This blog is designed to give everyone an insight into my travel experiences in India: an adventure I will be sharing with two of my closest friends, Carla and Ashley. Oh and I hope to make all of you very very jealous of us.
I landed in Hyderabad on the 3rd, and am currently awaiting the arrival of Carla and Ashley on the 6th, from London and Brisbane, respectively.
Hope you enjoy my first ever attempt at a blog! Be nice to me, its my first blog.

BAHHHHHHH OK so obviously I did not update my blog beyond Bangalore. The reason for this was the lack of internet at our hotels in Goa, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Agra...and even when we did have internet, it wasn't strong enough to handle my uploads! So. ... i figured it was unfair to upload any updates so long after I finished with the travels...so i'm officially suspending this tragic effort . Sorry! Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted! ... read more
Driving to Rishi Valley - Monkeys and Villages! As we set off for Rishi Valley, it became apparent pretty soon that the drive was going to be a lot of fun. Initially, we spotted several of the standard animals that you see on the side (or in the middle) of the road: cows, bulls, and dogs. As we started to get out of the city limits however, we started to spot a monkey or two. And then it was like we were in a monkeys-only zoo! They were everywhere - on the side of the highway, on the trees on the side of the road, and of course, in the middle of the highway. This set Carla and Ashley into a state of pure ecstasy, followed by incessant photography accompanied by the occasional shriek of ... read more
Bangalore - Rishi Valley Arrival in B’lore + Drive to Rishi Valley School Upon arrival in Bangalore at 6.30am, we were met by my cousin (Aadithya) who then drove us to his apartment that was on the outskirts of the city. After a 3hr nap on the standard Indian mattresses (solid as a rock), we headed out with Aadithya to an Indiana Jones-themed restaurant called IndiJoes ! The food was delicious, and the mall that the restaurant was attached to was incredibly modern and even had a Gold’s Gym in it! After lunch, we set off on the 3hr drive to Rishi Valley School - the unique boarding school that I spent 5 years in (grades 6 - 10). ... read more
July 8th - Meet the locals (contd.) Correction: The title for the previous big entry should've been July 8th, not 7th! Golconda Fort After Birla Mandir, we were absolutely exhausted. This called for a nap, or in my case, 3 cups of Indian chicory-blended filter coffee. So after a 2hr pit stop at my uncle's place, we were sufficiently rested/caffeinated and so we decided to head out to Golconda Fort. As we got close to the Fort, it was like being in a different city in a different era. Once we got in, we got accosted by a tour guide who started guiding us without asking us first. I knew something was up, so before we got too far from the entrance, I decided to ask him if this was a free guide that came ... read more

PHOTOS WILL BE UPLOADED SOON , I PROMISE ! July 7th - Meet the locals Charminar Our breakfast spread at my uncle's place in the morning included toast with nutella and peanut butter, cereal, and some upma (an Indian dish that is made with refined wheat). After that, we headed out to Charminar - a monument built by the olden day Muslim rulers of the city. The monument is in the heart of Lal Bazaar, which is a ridiculously crowded market. We got driven there by our driver, Anil, and he parked about 50 metres away after he dropped us off. Little did we know that 50m would later seem like 50km. As we got to the ticket booth, I casually asked the guy in my admittedly average Hindi how much it would cost us, ... read more
Carla and Ashley Arrive in Hyderabad ! July 6th Went to get Carla at airport at 8am, an event that was of high-intensity considering instances of missed flights in the recent past! BUT, she did us all proud and made it ! The drive back with my Uncle and Carla was made interesting by two "transvestite" beggars - they were clearly men just pretending to be transvestites. They saw the gori (white girl) in the back seat and were knocking on our windows at a traffic light. Only in India! After Carla awoke from a 2hr nap, we went to visit a couple of high-end shopping malls -GVK One and Hyderabad Central, where we were accosted by no less than 2 salespersons at any given moment in time. That night, I went back to the ... read more
