Breakfast at Banaue
Breakfast at Banaue
Isn't it grand that while you sip your hot coffee, you get to enjoy a view like this?
A local asked us, "Why come here in Sagada, why not Boracay (or any beach for that matter)?" I've thought of the 14-hour long and arduous journey mostly beside steep ravines. And the thousand feet drop from the mountains. My sore muscles from the trekking, and the blisters on my feet from the hiking. Why did I choose to return to Sagada to begin with? There are places I could describe as beautiful, breathtaking, and amazing. However, I feel that these words are inadequate to describe what I feel for Sagada. The early morning mist chilling to the skin, the soft [View Full Entry]

Bohol Getaway 12.06-09.07

 Asia » Philippines » Bohol » Panglao
Waiting for the break of dawn, sprawling on some white sandy beach, snorkeling around the island, watching the sunset, while sharing life's ironies in between -- all these things we did in Bohol. This was a long overdue vacation with my friend Nessy, having booked the flight on September with a travel date of December. And what was originally planned as a trip for two, suddenly became a trip for three. Nelson, another friend, joined us and are we so glad to have him and his portable stove. We get to cook our own meals (ok, they did, I just watched [View Full Entry]

Man-made Forest

The long weekend in November presented an opportunity for me to travel and shoot. So grabbing my backpack, I went on a roadtrip up north of Luzon--towards the Ilocos region. Together with my officemates, we toured Laoag, Pagudpud, and Vigan. Unlike in Manila, where rain is consistent during the afternoon, weather in Laoag and Vigan is almost like summer. The sky is bright, blue, and sunny. However, on the way to Bangui and Pagudpud, the weather became unpredictable. There were strong winds and occasional rain due to an impending storm (Typhoon Kabayan). In fact, when I was in Maira-ira, I g [View Full Entry]

Baywalk Manila, Philippines Asia » Philippines » Manila By risa July 15th 2007 A long strip of park along Roxas Boulevard Manila, Baywalk showcases the famous Manila Bay sunset. Arriving too early for the main attraction, I sat down to observe the surroundings. The place is definitely a melting pot of personalities from all walks of life. Couples, families, teenagers, and lone figur [View Full Entry]

The Stairways to Heaven!
Planning Our Travel I've been researching about Sagada for a couple of months. I was genuinely interested in the place but was never really serious in going there for various reasons. First, it was really far. It is located in the Cordillera region which is approximately 12-14 hours away from Manila. Second, it's difficult to invite people due to its distance and probably lack of time to actually make a vacation. So I thought going there would remain a wishful thinking until sometime in December, 2006 I convinced a friend to go with me to Sagada. There were actually no formal [View Full Entry]
